I saw my first game at Loftus road aged five.
Sheffield Utd a 2-2 draw , went with dad mum sister from Norfolk & sat in south africa road upper ( lower was still terracing in 71 ) towards the Loft end , roughly where F block is now .
Rodney Marsh scored a couple with Alan Woodward & a Hemsley penalty for the blades their team included the bearded Trevor Hockey & a young Tony Currie .

It’s great to hear people’s first memories of Loftus Road. Such a shame you couldn’t be there today to celebrate. My 50th is a few years away and it’s a Saturday too. That’s going to be some session. Unless Sky move it to the flipping Friday! Hope the Rs give you something to cheer about today.

My first game was about 5 months before but I can’t remember who it was against. My mum’s mate had a season ticket upstairs in South Africa road, but I had to stand on my own in front of the paddock.
I can’t imagine anyone letting a 10 year old kid stand on their own at a football match these days.I knew we were in blue and white, but I knew very little about us then.I think Rodney scored though.
I met up again at full time and I knew that I was hooked.

Thanks for the picture Danny , i nearly put on here that Rodney scored from a free kick but my memory could not quite confirm this .
I had promised myself to go to every home & away game this season to celebrate 50 years , have managed 43 games a few times but never all of them .

Weren’t Rangers two up in this game going into injury time? Bloody typical.

You are correct .... the excellent "Retro QPR" page on fb have now put up the match report saying that the blades scored twice in the last 3 minutes & then went on a 22 match unbeaten run .
