...of a bygone era. Although I did stand on the terraces at Leeds Road, I didn't realise just how many of the fans walked to the other end at half time. Even their 'singers' made the trip.
And er...older fans may recognize a certain character in the second fixture.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

Thanks for posting this, Boston. A time when the main man, John Motson went down to the third tier of the football league to commentate a featured game on the nations top football programme.

Yes, it was 40 years ago, and times change, but compare that to nowadays when there is nothing on terrestrial TV outside the Big Cash League and even that HAS to put one of the top six as the main match, even when the game is uneventful compared to games involving the non-top 6.

I know most of it is nostalgia, but this is a much better way for the good of football, surely?

As we know, nothing is about the good of football. It’s business/money hence the aborted (for now imo) Super League.

Long-sleeved southern pansies. First time I've seen Dean Neal in about 40 years.

...and that they never put final score on first game of the season, because the premier league teams aren't playing.

I never knew they used to do that.

It is arguable though these days that Sky do actually show some lower league football, and do goals round ups.

I was at this game as I was working up there. The wouldn't let me in the home end because I was a 'Cockney.'

There is a sort of irony that the BBC are doing a sort of celebration of the creation of the Premier league starting next week when Sky left them behind hoovering up all the football.

Despite the Covid hardship caused to many clubs there is no stopping the intended breakaway clubs home and abroad spending even more obscene amounts of money in this transfer window.
