Clive - good assessment about Warbs and the club.
As said many times - Warbs has spun gold from straw.
Yes we're going through a tough period.
And as we're not in the dressing room then none of us really knows why.
But the facts are - Warbs has elevated our club during the last 3 seasons.
He took over from 19th - then 13th, 9th and now 9th again.
Our target should be more points than last year (68) and try to beat 9th spot.
Warbs has given us hope.
And throughout 2021 and January this year he's delivered good football to watch.
It's great to have a season where there's been no fear of a possible relegation.
Then add in the possibility of a top six - then that's unbelievable.
He's done a great job.
But what I worry about is that he may have had enough.
This slide may have had an effect on his confidence - especially as several so-called fans can't wait to knock him off his perch.
Warbs may feel 3 years is enough.
I hope that's not the case.
He's a decent, honourable and respectful man.
And I believe a good coach leading the backroom staff.
I hope his enthusiasm and belief - in this very long term job - remains.
I hope he stays for years and build yet another team that keeps our hopes alive.

Fine preview and summary of where we are.

Only major disagreement is your calling of the timing of player contract negotiations 'bizarre', surely more bizarre to try and agree contracts without knowing what division we will be in?

I think it's bizarre to essentially build a system around a player who never misses a game - barbet - and then allow him to drift out of contract, particularly when he's able to talk to European clubs from January. But then, same as me saying "you don't know who's injured", maybe in this case it's I don't know that actually they tried and he turned it down because he wants to go home, or something.

Cheers Clive - as you mentioned who would come to manage us given the same set of parameters, and do hugely better? And it's easy to forget the miracles Warbs has worked given the reduced budgets and selling his best players.

Poll: How old is everyone on here?

True, but Les implied in that WSL interview that NO player out of contract had been spoken to, as you say, like many things behind the scenes, we don't know if that is 100% true of course!

Well I find that strange, because barbet is a no-brainer either way isn't he?

I've thought all season it makes sense to wait till the summer given we didn't know what league we'd be in. In barbets case he could surely ask for more money if we go up but with Warbs contract running down as well I do think it's starting to appear a little odd now and slightly concerned about what the summer is going to bring. Are we perhaps closer to breaching FFP than is currently appears

Yes, but you effectively have two contracts then, one PL and one non PL?

Yes I would keep him, but not sure he is a PL squad 'no brainer'

Dom Ball ? - Championship squad player - yep, not PL though etc etc etc

Fantastic and honest synopsis on our current plight.
I would keep Warburton, but there is one area where I think past comments on his ability have some truth.
People often commented on his inability to have a plan B. Clearly the "wheels have come off" and we do not have enough information as to why we have crashed. What is clear has been his inability to work around those challenges.
Surely better to draw with the like of Barnsley, Cardiff and Peterborough rather than lose those games. He sometimes approaches games with a shit or bust attitude, rather than being pragmatic. For me, that is his weakness, but I would like to see him stay and try improve again next season.

I actually think the team were too pragmatic in those games, if they had gone shit or bust I think we'd have won all 3 games
