If you're doing the train to Blackburn... 18:15 - Jul 25 with 1780 views | Northernr | Avanti West Coast are now saying they have no confirmed timetable for Saturday, and are no longer selling tickets for travel. They will try and have a confirmed timetable out by Wednesday, apparently...

You actually think there wouldn't have been a strike if they hadn't been privatised? This is a political strike same as your comments. This is a football forum not a soapbox.
If you're doing the train to Blackburn... on 11:36 - Jul 26 with 1378 views | Northernr | The specific problem with Avanti at weekends isn't anything to do with a strike. There are companies on strike on Saturday but they're not one of them. It's to do with a private company once again taking on a lucrative franchise, over promising to get it, absolutely coining it in with extortionate ticket prices and gov subsidies, and under delivering. Exactly the same as the Virgin consortium that took over the East Coast, fcked it, and had it taken off them. They are incapable of staffing and maintaining their trains adequately to run a proper weekend service, so they're forced into doing an emergency timetable.

I use Avanti a fair bit living in MK and to be honest if the government thought that Virgin were bad with the west coast franchise then this lot are the Laurence Bassini of the railway world. London Northwestern are pretty shoddy but I prefer to use their trains despite being slower. In fact I'm more often now driving to Flitwick to get a Thameslink train into St Pancras, Blackfriars or London Bridge. Far more reliable and the trains are far more spacious.
