| Beale's Transfer Window - Wow !!! 08:45 - Oct 2 with 2050 views | numptydumpty | Many were bemoaning fact we did not get another striker in. It seemed we had designs on Cameron Archer but it was not meant to be. But seven signings and think all will offer something different to the team. Actually signed another young midfielder yesterday also. Six played from start yesterday with our centre still intact - Dieng Jojo Field Willock and Chair. Injuries did for us last season as the squad players were a level down. This season we so much stronger in terms of number of potential quality players. Beales intelligent football brain and ability to seem to keep all squad members feeling involved and motivated is a fantastic quality in a manager. He not afraid to call out players where they not quite match up but does so in such a way that they feel motivated to improve and not feeling criticised. A man of his word. Lets see where this season takes us. So far definitely top marks Five substitutions means more chances for squad and we have much stronger squad than last season there is depth. | |

| Beale's Transfer Window - Wow !!! on 09:20 - Oct 2 with 1850 views | Lblock | I’d still like a striker but doubt there’s a fan of a club at this level that wouldn’t say the same. The biggest transformation is clearly at full / wing backs…..essential. With that in mind we do need to strengthen there but I’d like a versatile single player who can do left or right - whilst he’s not a world beater I still feel Kakay has some attributes and he’s ours. That was certainly Beales team yesterday and it all went rather well. Big call to drop Dunne but it’s to Jimmys character that he’s not kicked up and was first man geeing them up as they came off at halftime. Fair play so far | |

Beale mentioned recently that JCS can play left back. I wonder if that's part of the reason he's so keen to get him some game time as he's a quality option at LCB but also cover for Paal? I think Jimmy might play on Tuesday as from memory Sheffield United are a very big, physical team and Jimmy has that extra physicality - maybe a back three with Jimmy or Balogun in the centre? Kakay is fine as an alternative. He doesn't tear up trees so he makes us a bit unbalanced with Paal's superior ability going forward on the other flank, especially as Ilias tends to attack down that left side more. But he's an okay defender and will never let you down effort wise.
| Beale's Transfer Window - Wow !!! on 12:00 - Oct 2 with 1516 views | dmm | I wonder if Beale still has hopes for Cameron Archer in January? Archer is not getting any meaningful game time at Villa which won't be good for his development. Meanwhile, Ireogbunam is getting game time with us. Maybe Beale will hope playing Ireogbunam shows Villa how Archer would benefit from being with us. | | | |
| Beale's Transfer Window - Wow !!! on 12:25 - Oct 2 with 1423 views | danehoop | Have to say that 11 games in, and given the very steep learning curve of the manager in his first full manager role and the newness of so much of the squad, I am impressed. I think the manager has done a terrific job at assimilating new players, improving existing ones and clearly getting more from the whole squad. I hoping that we now have sufficient strength, depth, experience and balance within the overall squad (after last year that panic in the Jan window still leaves scars). I see this team improving and really being there or there abouts at the end of the season. I hate being being hopeful about QPR in the first quarter of the season, it always makes the disappointment so much harder when we inevitably "QPR" in the final quarter. I have now reached the point of trying to work out how we will mess things up or what kind of random external event will happen to us. At the moment my money is on an outbreak of an Ebola/Monkey Pox/Covid 23 hybrid virus hitting the squad which turns all our players into cows. | |

| Beale's Transfer Window - Wow !!! on 12:35 - Oct 2 with 1380 views | derbyhoop | Although we have players back from injury - JCS and Amos yesterday; Dickie within the week; Richards shortly, I believe it is only injuries to key players that would blow us off course. We now have a first teams quad of about 20, but are heavily reliant on Chair and Willock to provide creativity. We have no effective cover for Paal and striking options limited. Principally choosing between Roberts and Dykes. Long term injuries to any of those would unbalance the team. However, 1/4 of the way in, there don't appear to be too many outstanding sides. | |

Still feel we have too many players without adequate replacement if they get injured, we'd have to be incredibly lucky to keep them all fit for the majority of games. Dieng, Paal, Laird, Jojo, Chair, Willock. We're not as good if any one of them are missing. Maybe with another striker, we could get away with Willock or Chair being out. Albert maybe covers Laird. I doubt we're looking at anyone else to cover Jojo, and we're not going to have another goalie in, without a significant sale. But like everyone else, hugely impressed with what Beale has done in a short space of time. I still have a nagging doubt about how he'd be able to deal with the managerial side of things if a few individuals in the squad got a bit narky, but so far so good.
| Beale's Transfer Window - Wow !!! on 12:42 - Oct 2 with 1358 views | WadR | Think the combination of FFP being really tight and this season being an oddity with the World Cup might have contributed too. Fewer games between September and January than normal and a 4 week break for all bar Dieng and Chair during the WC. Is it worth splashing out for an expensive striker on loan? Who may take time to bed in, might not be a success at all and is more of a sunken cost than normal with the 1 month break. Get to January, assess where we are and the need for another striker then. Do agree that Paal and especially Laird have been revolutionary. The difference they make so marked - quality and pace. | | | |
