| We know what you are doing!!! 13:35 - Feb 12 with 1596 views | Jules4367 | Any decent coach (in any sport) has two simple fundamental tasks...that's it, just two!!! (i) Find out the other team's weakness and try to exploit it. (ii) Prevent teams from knowing our team's weakness so that others cannot exploit it. Consider then (ii) and how we play week in week out. > we try to play out from the back, usually playing down the left side but when that is blocked, pass back to Dunne, across to Dickie out to the right but if pressed, back to Dieng and big boot upfield giving away possession. >Opposing coach sees this, knows it, prepares for it, presses Dunn and Dickie and gets the ball in midfield from Dieng - every game its the same! > So every team knows our weakness and what we are going to do!! So then why doesn't the coach implement a different tactic and kick it long quickly and then push up Dickie and Dunn to challenge midfield. They are not adept with control so why try to play it out and across the field all the time and panic when pressed. Why not try something different? The worst that can happen is that we lose...and that's what's happening by playing the same way week on week! Message to coach.... you are failing with task number (ii) Oh yes: Corner strategy doesn't work, try something different Laird in defence doesn't work, please try something different Dunn, Dickie and Dieng (strangely 'D's all round which isn't only their performance) hoofing the ball or trying to play out with the ball isn't working, please try something different. Left side strategy for all of first half isn't working, please try to develop right hand side. We can all see it, why cannot the Board, the coach, the players?????? Grrrrrr! Yet time and again we play out from the back expecting to score a wonder team goal with 10 outfield players stood in position waiting for us. | | | |

By NOT doing the same thing -- or doing hat they have seen us do every week - i.e try something different cos what they are doing doesn't work and all our opponents know it. Millwall yesterday had their goalkeeper point to the right and everyone, Rangers and Millwall players included all ran to the right side of the field, one guy peeled away to the left and the goal keeper kicked to him and he ran unopposed for 30 yards! We weren't expecting him to do that and it was clearly a training ground ploy which worked. That's what Our coach should be doing and also not keep passing across the back line!!

None of our players seem to have the ability to pass the ball first time let alone pass and move into space. Even with our pîssballing about at the back the ball is invariably played behind players rather than in front of them to move onto, and as for Dunne or Dickie carrying the ball into midfield, never happens now, even when there is 30 yards of space.
