Honest and open, positivity around owners and style of football. Maybe Armageddon is not inevitable ( reading too many threads), tbh I am a glass half full person anyway, feel E15 is my brother / sister from another mother sometimes. Fate can be weird somehow he was destined to be the gaffer ( GA not E15) and seems like this was the only situation where he would get the job. Same as Poch at Chelsea, different world but same outcome.

Amen bro -welcome to the family! I wrote these points on a different thread already, but I think these takeaways from this interview are worth highlighting, as there's a bit more detail from him than what we've seen from him before: 1. He's formed a sort of inner management circle of himself, RD, Paul Hall, Gavin Ward and the two analysts. Although he didn't say this directly, there's the implication that they are each other's eyes and ears, meeting regularly, discussing decisions in detail and ensuring they're all on the same page. You often hear in the corporate management world that 6 is the optimum number for this kind of team to work effectively, so there's a clear strategy to this move. 2. He reinforced what Richard Dobson said on the Open All R's podcast that they would ideally love to play free-flowing enetertaining football, although the paragmatic approach of cutting your cloth as necessary will obviously remain. 3 . The most revealing one for me: there really wasn't a team spirit in place whatsoever when he first came in, leading to everyone essentially playong for themselves. The interesting part for me is to wonder precisely how and when that fell away, given what Mark Warburton in particular used to say about the spirit in the dressing room whilst he was in charge. Everything else was pretty much what he's sadi before, but at least its a consistent clear message and it shows that there is a strategy in place for how next season and beyond plays out.

The biggest problem is knowing what he has to work with between now and the new season. Players will leave and he doesn't really have a budget to bring in players so I think the culture of just buying young players for the sake of a possible profit may go. He obviously wants players with experience who are prepared to lead, roll up sleeves and get stuck in. As he said, he wants leaders. I think realising how poor the culture has been is really important and it's something he needs to change very quickly. It's obvious that any camaraderie disappeared during the season and that could explain just how bad we were.
Loved most of that, and love the belt buckle - a bit of personality is no bad thing at this point.
No doubt about his positivity and determination - we need that at this point, but there are other things we need too and hopefully he and the team have those. I'm not saying they don't.
What he says in terms of the 'lucky to be here' angle is in some ways exactly what I want to hear, but it also worries me. I know we have to be realistic but there has got to be a balance. A certain number of players, yes, should be humble regarding the new training ground - but if your whole squad feels like that - honestly in this day and age, is that a good thing?
That other comment he made about players leaving "go and get careers" - same thing - this is a career! Ok if they're PL quality, or think they are, fine - but this is a career Gaz, and a very good one!
The logical answer to most of that though is he's walked into a situation filled with egos, many of whom offered absolutely nothing. In that case I can understand how he'd want to go the other way - but again, we'll need a balance.
I'm going to support him because he's here, he's one of ours, and I have no doubt about his commitment. But I do think there's some growing into the role to be done - like anybody in any job of course.

I see where you're coming from with that BR. I cringed a bit when I heard the words "don't deserve", but I think it was just a poor choice of words from him. I think what he was actually saying relates back to the "egos" part: ie. the players shouldn't take their surroundings and facilities for granted and feel that they're somehow entitled to them. Once they do that, that of course is when standards drop, they don't push themselves to be the best they can be etc. I think its one part of his delivery that he could definitely improve, but I don't get the impression that its had any negative impact on the relationship he typically has with his players. I looked back at what the Wycombe players were saying after they got promoted to the Championship, having been tipped for relegation to League Two that season, and they were all talking like gueriila fighters, so no inferiroty complex there!

Great stuff, I read the career stuff around those who ( I don’t want to say not good enough) have hung around and never will be a regular 1st team squad player. They deserve the chance to have a career elsewhere, hence a number of releases where previous management might have stuck for another year. The next announcements I think will give us the biggest clue. Almost as important is what happens with the medical team. Keep the faith

Best thing he can do this summer is lob a big bottle of domestos into the treatment room and hermetically seal the place with anybody still in it. Tell them they’ll be let out three years from now.
Also loved the interview (and the belt buckle). The most interesting snippet for me was when GA said that one reason for the Haka was to see which players didn't buy into it. Always believed in the importance of positive psychology in the dressing room, and now I know so does Gareth. Looking forward to seeing the type of players he tries to bring in during the summer.

Great interview. Further reinforces my existing view that he is the perfect character for the job. Regarding the team spirit thing, it could be that this was lacking because the immediately preceding managers didn't play at the highest level and possibly were not so cognisant of the relationships which need to be tuned in order to create a successful team.
