| Paul Parker 06:04 - Dec 21 with 887 views | Hooparoo | Amid all the excitement I forgot to mention that I got to meet Paul Parker in the club shop before the game. Absolute gentleman and one of my favourites from that era. Great start to what ended up being an epic day. Also chatted to Esquirdinha while I was getting my daughter’s shirt printed. He was getting a shirt with his name on it and he said he has a slight hamstring issue but thought he’d be back soon. Nice lad obviously still struggling with English so I think he’ll come good once he’s more settled. | |

An assist to Lineker in the world cup semi final against Germany to equalise his own goal deflection of a German free kick. Would have played a poor Argentina side bereft of Maradona in the World Cup Final after outplaying Germany in the semi apart from couple of poor pens in the shootout. Parker would have been renowned forevermore and as a QPR player at the time too. Would have had legend status and been a national treasure. Thems the breaks Paulie !!!! Never again will there ever be a chance a QPR player be in a World Cup Final Winning Team.... [Post edited 21 Dec 8:02]

I think the 1990 England team is one of the best teams never to win the World Cup. Pity

I missed that too, never heard it before if so. Presumably in the book. If the talks had come a couple of years earlier, we might have got Houghton too!

IIRC we were watching Parker, Coney and Houghton for a long time but didn't close any deals. We missed out on Houghton, but when the merger collapsed we signed Parker and Coney because we still wanted them and Fulham needed money.
