Mbengue v Josh Murphy 17:38 - Dec 22 with 981 viewsMyke

We have seen Mbengue stifle some decent wingers in the past few weeks with his physicality and all action performances. One man who regularly gives us problems and gave poor Jimmy a torrid time last season is Josh Murphy. Would love to see our favourite 'mad lad' put Murphy in his pocket.

Derby didn't let him play on Saturday; he had the fewest touches of a starting outfield player for Pompey. Derby played 3412 and Joe Ward covered back from midfield.

No guarantees Murphy will be involved.

Why's that? I sincerely hope you're right about this.

For mine, this is one player who is as good a two-footed player and is comfortable crossing with either foot, as you'll get in this division. His left-footed cross for Pompey's 2nd goal at Hull evidences what he is capable of producing. For that reason, I'd say that he poses a greater threat than either Gray or Mavididi and is massively underrated.

If Mbengue masters Murphy in the manner that he has the other two and in an away game, then I'm a complete convert.

As far as I am aware he only played for 7 minutes. Set up the Portsmouth goal but 'felt his hamstring ' in doing so and came off as a precaution. Expect him to be fit for us though

Today's update from the local Pimpey.rag.

John Mousinho on Josh Murphy’s injury scare
Pompey welcome QPR to Fratton Park on Boxing Day before Charlton Athletic make the trip to the south coast three days later to round off 2025.

The festive football continues for the Blues on New Years’ Day who travel to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City before returning to PO4 on January 4 to take on Ipswich Town.

With a run of four games in nine days, Mousinho admitted after the draw at Pride Park that his side were taking no precautions over their star forward following his injury scare.

The head coach told BBC Radio Solent on Saturday: ‘(He was) just feeling his hamstring slightly.

‘He (Murphy) wasn't quite himself today and it was one of those that we've taken him off as a precaution.

‘I don't know how it's going to be but we need to work hard to try and get Murp as fit as possible.

‘Probably, as a precaution, we'll have it scanned on Monday and see where we go from there.’

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.
