Super interview. An incredible life story so far. Homeless at 14 (doesn't talk about his foster care years), losing his dad as a teenager, making it against the odds and loving being part of the QPR story. When you think both he and Kone have been homeless (relatively recently in life) and the fact that they have applied themselves so genuinely in their first season at this level, I for one feel very proud that our club have given them a big break - and a home!
It sounded like he deliberately stayed in France after a football tournament and was homeless from there as he felt in order to make it as a footballer he would progress more being in France as opposed to back home in Senegal.
To make that decision at the age of 14 is incredibly courageous and then to actually achieve what he has set out to do, ie be a professional footballer is also very impressive.
Theres no doubting his motivations to do well and for a young man, he does actually appear from this interview to be very focussed and another thing in this interview for me, he genuinely knows he has to limit the yellows and reds and although rash at the time, think he has had a think after the red and the subsequent capitulation against Wrexham and think he has understood for the team, he has to rein himself in occasionally.
Like a few, i thought for our level as a right back he can have a few faults, but no doubting his enthusiasm and there are less reasons to disbelieve that he won't improve. He clearly has an appetite to learn and also, he wasn't at all, a right back when he came here. He had always been a centre back previously.
Certainly, am sure, he is, no doubt, a more determined man than many of us have ever been.
I didnt know his back story before Bosh, but to make yourself homeless in a foreign land at 14 with a dream to be a pro footballer and to get to championship level already is very very good and suggests to me, along with Kone, that both these players have great possibilities to progress further.
He speaks impressively and thought this interview was quite revealing.
I still believe we need someone who could be an alternative first choice right back and he could well at times be played back at centre half. But definitely a determined man.
He likes to play the clown but he is far from that !!
