And double training sessions. I say.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

Well that's great to hear and you can tell the difference in how we look fitness, legs, physicality wise.

My big fear was they'd actually convince themselves of this "90% availability crap" and do the same all over again but you can see this summer pre-season has been night and day to last, and given our start fixture wise that should have us up there among the pace setters by that first international break.

You can tell with signings like Cirkin/Lamptey they're having a go at it. As I said in the Cirkin piece though I hope that's not having a go at it as in when we last had a go at it i.e. three years to recover if we don't go up.

Indeed it is, not unusual to hear it here.

Double training sessions eh? Perhaps lessons have been learnt.

Well this is not the thread I was expecting based on the title.
I had assumed there were some fellow suffers out there who need to be picked up from the tube station by their Mrs to avoid the agony of a 1/4 mile walk home

Poll: With no leg room, knees killing me, do I just go now or stay for the 2nd half o?

I've been here 30 years but I've never heard it.

Bit over 25 in my case and I've certainly heard it plenty of times.

Rather makes a mockery of Williams' approach and is a big change to past pre season training. I'd love to know who made it happen but I guess we'll never find out.

Definitely hear it in Sydney. Shouldn't we be giving it a red hot crack every season?

I was never a fan of the slow start fitness wise. The argument that it prevents burnout is just not true. Playing championship games at 100% pace and not fully fit just increases the risk of injury. Players try to stretch or give that extra bit while the body is not ready yet and you pull something.

Countering fatigue just requires good player management later on, lighter trainings or squad rotation. But trying to compete at this level not fully fit is asking for injuries.

Great to hear. Hopefully we can back it up again this Saturday. The club has made mistakes but does seem to learn from them. We adapt and move on. Last summer, we went for more power and pace and signed some strikers. This time, goalie and full backs. And also we did seem fitter than Portsmouth. Good signs. Everyone makes mistakes and that’s fine, but learning from them and moving forward is key. But obviously all goes out the window if we don’t improve on last seasons 15th finish!

It's going to be very interesting seeing how we go against Bolton who are much more likely to sit in the old low block. We certainly have the players to get around this if on their game.

Pompey set up was crazy against a side that can break like the Rs, as Clive said in the report others will watched that and learnt. Apart from Stoke who never learn anything.

Every time I see Ilias Chair, I can't stop thinking how much lighter he looks, he has always looked so short and chunky, but now seems to appear much lighter. not sure if it is just the new floppier hair cut and highlights.. or the new fitness regime. But after Saturday, it seems to be working.

Doesn't work, for all the good it does you might as well stick it up your arse.

When you reach the place beyond thoughts, the only thing you'll find is love and the only purpose of life becomes to ease the suffering of others.

This phrase was used by a rugby league player on TV last night when talking about the end of season finals series.
