There's an uncomfortable double entendre in there...

To me it's fine. I actually like the shading of the blue, and it's not as if I'll be planning on pulling one on over my aging frame at any point.

Both teams have shown exactly the same form over the last 5 games - WLDLW.

Plenty of pressure all round on them, just of a different sort.

Think with the right approach and commitment we can absolutely get something out of this.

And at the risk of massively over simplifying things, the Leicester away performance springs to mind as how they might approach Friday: very disciplined, compact, getting back into position, nothing too frilly or fancy, take your chance when you get it. They have done it before.

Wednesday's third goal

Would assume he didn't realise the amount of spin he'd put on it with his initial massive slice.

Thought he could get it under control with his knee/thigh but the ball had other ideas by that point.

Agree. I know there's still a very slim chance for the teams below, but barring catastrophe it feels good not to have to deal with that 'what if?' situation. No idea what our financial position will allow us to achieve but there's a lot more reason for hope than for quite a while.

Read on PR...it's all covered in the one bumper sentence ;)

Did well with that chance, no argument there.

He was brought in and talked up a great deal by Beale, and was one of those who, I think, was rocked when he left. Went backwards under Critchley - niggling injuries may have played a part but I don't think he wanted to be at the club during the Ainsworth debacle.

I accept that's total speculation but Marti seems to have brought the best out of him and got him to buy in. So fair play all round imo. Similar story with Willock.

Superb stuff today from everyone anyway. Dykes still couldn't hit a cow's arse from 3 feet but he was in the right place to react to that Full Begovich and connected things well for much of the game.

All in all I just feel very relieved.

I'm going to be positive and see this as Dyke's big chance to cement his position in the shop window for when Hamilton Academicals or Stirling Albion come calling. You can do it Lyndon.

'As Oldham was the end of the beginning for Ian Holloway, so Preston could be for Marti Cifuentes.'

I vote for that option. Come on Rangers.

He should have had a look, seen the coverage and squared it for Dykes to miss instead. Eejit.

It just needs to draw to a close now with Dykes. He's from an athletic family I believe (there's stuff on wiki I can't be bothered to read again), spent his teens playing rugby league, switched to football relatively recently and it often genuinely shows.

But he's done well for himself, been making a good living, played for Scotland, had some high points with us and his own Belinda Carlisle ditty. End of chapter - I wish him luck wherever that next chapter is but it's very clearly run its course with us.

Yeah they'll spend the whole game looking to break up our rhythm.

What they will fail to realise is we don't actually have any rhythm, so there.

I've spent a lot of the last few months looking at the form table - better reading than the league table most of the time.

I just did a comparison of the form of each team around us, and an average of the form of the 3 teams each is about to play (lower average meaning a theoretically tougher task). I haven't got into home form vs away form, play-off chances etc. So it may not be worth much, but gives me some hope that we may be able to grind things out and hang on.

Team-----------Form (last 6)-----------Opponent Form (Average)---------Points
Plymouth--------18--------------------------16.33-----------------------------------48
QPR---------------14---------------------------8.33------------------------------------47
Stoke-------------20---------------------------8.33------------------------------------47
Birmingham----19---------------------------15.66-----------------------------------45
Huddersfield---21---------------------------9.33-------------------------------------44
Sheff Wed-------22---------------------------10.33-----------------------------------44
Rotherham-----24---------------------------15----------------------------------------23
