Betting suspended on a Top Six finish?
at 01:07 6 Dec 2023

I just logged onto my SportsBet account to see what price we are for a top six finish (I know, I know...).

Every other team in the league has a price against them apart from Rangers...betting suspended. Have we struck that much fear into the competition/bookies that they won't even offer a price?

I'm only looking to put a couple of $'s on as you just never know, so I think they should be able to cover that.

Marti channeling El Tel?
at 11:20 5 Dec 2023

Listening to the Open All R's podcast I was interested as Gary Micklewhite described how Terry Venables corrected the problem of sending crosses over the byline for he & Steve Burke. "Where are you aiming?" "The six yard box" "well aim for the penalty spot then" - problem solved. He also told them as he started the conversation that they were the best crossers of a ball at the club. Simple.

It isnt hard to imagine Marti calling in Ilias Chair and telling him he is one of the most talented ball players at the club. "Now Ilias, I want you to put the ball in the danger areas quickly, one touch then send it" "But what if there's no one there boss?" "Getting someone there is my job Ilias, leave that bit to me".

I know its only one half of football but there did seem to be a distinct change. I'm probably getting carried away by this comparison I know, but it's exciting to see long term issues potentially be addressed at last.

One game for the season...Leicester...
at 03:04 10 Oct 2023

I'm headed back to the UK to check in on my dear old Mum after a Covid extended 5-year break. I always try to get to HQ for at least one game and this time it coincides with the visit of Leicester.

Should I...?

A thing of beauty
at 03:02 31 Dec 2021

I know its been said a thousand times already, but it is worth reiterating, our away shirt this season is sumptuous...

My Christmas present just arrived in Brisbane and I shall be modelling it in and around the Northern Suburbs later this afternoon...I knew it looked good in the pictures but its even better in real life...

A last minute away win and a natty looking R's shirt to wear...happy days...

Alternative Sporting Entertainment
at 09:54 17 May 2020

As we've really no idea at this stage when/if the season will restart, can I suggest an alternative sporting contest to check out during the wait?

Over here in Aus. the National Rugby League is kicking off behind closed doors on the 28th May. Now you may never have watched a game of league before, but its relatively simple to understand, fast, skilful and tough, if not brutal at times.

I know its not Rangers, but its a genuinely high quality sporting competition that you might enjoy, and could help pass the time...

They say you should never go back...
at 15:28 16 Sep 2015

I'm told that you should only expect disappointment if you go back to a place that you remember fondly from your youth; better to leave the golden glow of your memory unsullied by the reality of today and all that. I ignored all of that and went back to Loftus Rd for the first time since 1997 last Saturday, and a few things had changed...but not that much...
- I used to stand on the paddock next to the away fans in the 80's, and I always thought that they made more nosie than the R's home crowd because of the low roof at the School End making their singing echo. I sat in the SAR stand on Saturday, and even with little to sing about, for 10-15 mins after half time I could feel the R's fans noise. Love it love it love it...that R Block is the place to be...
- Maybe its a product of being older myself, but there seems to be a bigger percentage of 30+ blokes around now. I always felt like we were a young crowd back in the day...the place feels a little more intimidating now, not violent but just a bit edgier. We've all grown up..
- Still a great place to see 'faces'; blokes you only see at Rangers, but that you have 'known' for years
- And finally, the R's themselves...the most reliably unreliable team there is. I should have known that on a day where they should have romped it in they'd turn in their worst display of the year...in honour of my return. They are bastards to a man, but they are our bastards..
I'll be back again next trip, and a big thanks to Finney, 'TV' James & Rob Dundee for looking after me....champions to a man....made me fell part of the R's family.
U R's.....

Back in Blighty for the Blackburn game - tickets & pub?
at 13:05 22 Jun 2015

Looking for a little advice from you all...I'm flying back from Brisbane for the first time in many years for my dear old mums 77th birthday, and I've managed to plan this for the 1st weekend in September when there's no game on....magic....
I'm in Ireland the following week with the rest of the family leaving only the Blackburn game on the 15th to get to before flying out again. Any suggestions re: how to secure tickets - do I have to be a member? Can't see prices yet on the website? Also, where's the best place to sit to sing a few songs...don't want to come all that way and sit quietly...
I think the Crown & Sceptre is a safe bet for a pint beforehand but any other suggestions are welcome....getting excited already.....
