QPR New Deals
at 13:10 9 May 2024

I know this is all stating the bleeding obvious... But Dykes' return of 7 goals wasn't THAT bad considering how many shots he had - 60. Chair meanwhile led QPR with a whopping 115 shots, almost double that of Dykes and only scored one more goal.

Now part of that is playing time and another part of that is perhaps Dykes' reluctance to shoot / lack of confidence but ultimately Chair scored a goal with 6% of his shots whilst Dykes scored with 10% of his.

Taking away set pieces over the last few months of the season our most potent goal threat by some way were shots from around the edge of the box - almost exclusively from Chair. I'd like to think Marti will try to address that with pattern of play installations or whatever Nourry would call them in preseason.

When you compare our top goalscorers amongst the league's top goalscorers, Dykes does ok in terms of goals per shot conversion, he just takes nowhere near as many shots as an effective player. Meanwhile Chair is right up there in terms of shots but didn't score from many of them - relatively.

This has to change next year as you'd imagine this is completely unsustainable over another season. This year if you shut us down from set pieces and you shut down our edge of the box shots, you can chalk up a clean sheet with little outlay.

Anyway I found this marginally interesting so thought I'd share!

THey're not allowed an artificial pitch in League 2? So England can play international qualifiers on artificial pitches and teams can use them in the Champions League... But the EFL couldn't possibly allow them in League 2?

Between that and the Gateshead mess you have to wonder of the EFL take themselves a bit too seriously. It's pathetic.

Bit meh. Quite like the three blues but the collar and sleeves are very bland.

Here's a pic for those in a rush!

Because that's how life (and this god forsaken season) goes. Nothing more than that!

Birmingham will obviously beat Huddersfield.

Sheff Weds wining at Sunderland on the last day also feels like a total inevitability to me.

That means Birmingham only need a point at home to Norwich and Weds only need a point this weekend at home to WBA.

I can see Plymouth wither winning at Millwall or at home to Hull on the last day when they need it.

Weirdly the teams I'm most confident in finishing above if we lose our last two would be Blackburn losing to Leicester and Coventry or Stoke losing to Southampton and Bristol City by more than we lose to Leeds and Cov.

It just feels like these teams have been pulling results out of the bag since Christmas when we've been desperate for them to fall away.

Just beat Leeds and it's all immaterial.

Hopeless? He tore both our fullbacks to shreds. Every time he got a one on one there was danger.

I know he's a bit of a fan favourite and he's probably the least of our problems but am I allowed to criticise Paal? He so often overpersues to cut out a pass and leaves a gaping hole behind him. He also seems to switch off and let attackers run off of him too. Happened countless times on Saturday.

I think our fullbacks have generally asked a lot of our centre halves this season (Dunne probably excepted). Fortunately since Marti and Calm arrived both JCS and Cook have been quite remarkably good.

According to internet sources drinking water is bad for you, Ilias Chair is in prison, the Earth is flat and you can use an onion to charge your phone.

Nobody at QPR is earning anywhere near £32k, let alone players signed last summer when we had our noses touching the FFP wall.

Spreading this sort of stuff doesn't help anyone or anything. People will take it as fact and regurgitate it and before you know it he's getting dogs abuse for not earning his £32k every week. See this very thread after your post as proof.

New CEO meeting
at 11:52 29 Feb 2024

They could put them in the treaty of Versailles and an agent would burn it to make a couple of quid. Come on now. And if they really were going down this route I’d imagine it’d pretty quickly act as a deterrent when signing players.

The notion that other clubs wouldn’t know players’ contract lengths because they haven’t been publicly announced is laughable. I can just see an agent on the phone to a Prem club saying ‘Sorry I couldn’t possibly tell you how long his contract lasts because their CEO gets a bit funny about this stuff. What’s that you’re pulling out and I won’t get my 5%? No worries. Loyalty and integrity are really big things for me.’

The only people that will be in the dark over contract lengths are the fans. Which - when considered in that light - makes it feel way more contemptuous than beneficial.

I think I could say it a thousand times and you wouldn’t see my point.

There hasn’t been any journalism. One Belgian tabloid newspaper has quoted the prosecutor. That’s all. No facts or evidence from the hearing have been reported, just the opinion of the prosecutor.

Even in your last post you state he was hit by a rock. That’s not even true. Read the quotes, they only ever mention a stone. It’s only ever a rock in headlines.

The point I’m trying to make is the farcical lack of facts that have been reported that have so clearly been sensationalised. The quotes allude to someone having thrown a stone. A couple of hours later it’s being discussed that Chair has hit someone in the skull with a rock leaving them in intensive care. You yourself made up that last bit; contributing to the trial by social media.

We know next to nothing and have heard one side of the story. Let’s not embellish any of it or draw conclusions. That’s all I’m saying.

It wasn’t in any reports. The only time I’ve seen it claimed is in your post. You made it up. That’s the whole point.

I’m not having a go here but you absolutely said earlier on this thread - quite brazenly and without citation - “the victim was in intensive care with fractured skull - potentially could have been life threatening.”

People could and probably will read this thread, read someone stating that as fact and repeat it to their mates / on their message boards etc etc. And before you know it there are a whole host of people who believe it as fact as they won’t bother to read the details themselves.

The only quotes available are from ‘the Prosecutor’, who has twice used the words “a long time” to describe the length of recovery. Well what’s a long time? That’s entirely subjective. Relative to being discharged immediately, 3 hours is a ‘long time’.

Nobody here is getting any details from medical reports brought to trial by impartial doctors. They’re getting it from the claims of the prosecutor; the very definition of only knowing one side of the story.

We really do barely know anything here - I don’t think there’s any reason to, nor any good to come of adding to the conjecture with assumption.

There aren’t any details, just unattributed quotes from ‘the prosecutor’.

If I were to draw assumption; I would suggest on the basis that the prosecutor hasn’t claimed at any stage that the alleged victim were in intensive care; it’s almost certain that they never were.
