Three is the cursed number as QPR fall in a hole at Hull - Report
at 22:09 15 Apr 2024

He certainly is getting a free pass and I’ve no idea why. He isn’t playing well particularly, he just isn’t crocked at the moment. I simply can’t forgive him for the shocking attitude earlier in the season and clearly being very high maintenance. Anything good he does do I have to accept whilst holding my nose or something- he is just another mercenary unfortunately. We are being used for him to showcase his talents to get a contract elsewhere.

It will be very interesting to see where he gets a gig? I suspect that it might pay more, but won’t be at a higher level.

To Hull and back - Preview

Thanks Clive, spot on.

I shouldn’t be as worried as I am as Marti has worked miracles….but I don’t see us getting anything tomorrow and the only point we may get is against Preston next weekend. The question is whether that will be enough? Or if Cov and Leeds are confirmed as not going up but already having a play offplace by the time we play them…that could give us a chance.

Nervy.

A word to the wise for Clive...
at 10:38 30 Mar 2024

What a magnificent day that was. Tremendous finish…and as Marti said afterwards we should have been leading at HT. Those late goals always go in against us - maybe the worm has turned?!

Season defining stuff.

What Clive probably doesn’t know is that his match report is my highlight of the next 36 hrs…just waiting for it to appear!!

The boy Dunne Good

Job Dunne

He’s only gone and Dunne it?!

Dunne enough

What’s he gone and Dunne?

Birmingham Dunne and dusted!

Hows he Dunne that?!

Sunderland stalemate keeps Rangers hanging – Report
at 19:04 18 Mar 2024

You folk are far more generous than me ….any patience I had with Dykes has gone completely in the last few months. He will NEVER be a championship level striker.

He is always in the wrong place. Has the first touch of a trampoline and now doesn’t even get stuck in.

You say Chair and Willock don’t pass to him - but would you? I know I wouldn’t. If by some fluke he was in the right place in the box with space he’d miss or not even get a shot away.

Marti is working miracles so I’m his biggest fan, but his picking of Dykes is a mystery. And by the way I’m not saying Sinclair is the answer because he has limited abilities too…but at least he scares defences when used at the right time.

Until we’ve seen more of Kolli, we have one proper striker and that is the old, slightly unfit, and immobile Frey. I might be a bit harsh but that is the case.

The other option is to play none of them at 9 and put someone else there?!
Dunne anyone?!

I know that the Championship is mad this season but this is amazing.

The top are blazing away and the gap between everyone else is so small.

I guess we want Blackburn and Millwall to draw to keep them both in it!
Hull to beat Birmingham?
Leeds to give Stoke a good going over!
Sheff Wed to draw with Plymouth maybe?

New CEO meeting
at 19:54 28 Feb 2024

Clive, can I ask a really banal question?

Have we ever discovered his true age? Having met him, do you think that he really is 26?

And did you get any impression whether Lee Hoos is still pulling the financial strings in the background?

Willock completes Rangers' Rotherham revival - Report
at 20:46 25 Feb 2024

…also for Begorvic, see Pep dumping Joe Hart! A perfectly decent keeper…but one who can’t play football with either foot! He played one 15 yard pass early on that missed the man by 5 yards! That really takes some doing.

Willock completes Rangers' Rotherham revival - Report
at 20:43 25 Feb 2024

I completely agree that Willock was MOTM…but it leaves a nasty taste admitting it.

The guy’s attitude has been shocking in the past year, and either he is being a complete mercenary about his contract or his team are promising a pot of gold in the summer. He clearly hated Gareth Ainsworth and his methods, but he is a professional footballer not a school kid so he should still have competed.

He has looked completely half arsed for ages…and then the last couple of weeks. Simply superb.

Have you noticed how Marti has his arm around him at every moment laughing and joking - so clearly he has seen the benefit a decent performance from this moody git can bring.

I now guess we all have to hold our nose and put up with pandering to him whilst he plays ‘on show’ to get a big contract elsewhere because performances like this (especially if we play him centrally) can keep us up. As long as his hamstrings hold out.

Frey
at 14:54 25 Feb 2024

I didn’t see this thing that Dykes did more in the last ten mins than Frey did all game? I sometimes wonder if I was at the same game?!

Frey is slow and possibly unfit, but is a proper striker. He moves to the right places and gets across his defender. His header cleaned off the line in the first half was a great example. Also he held the ball up really well several times. He also laid the ball off out wide then immediately sprinted (?!) into the six yard box. Dykes just doesn’t do that - he is ALWAYS in the wrong place.

We have to persevere with this guy as he’s the best we’ve got by some distance.

FFP result with finances out.

So does this mean that we’ve just snuck under the allowable FFP losses? Does anyone have the financial results and the ability to interpret them. I.e. know what losses can be deducted from the totals?

Great win…next week is massive again. I fear the worse for next week because we seem to play so much better against teams that push up and want to play. Rotherham will sit deep behind the ball and that will be our undoing!

But fabulous win.

The one thing that has to be pointed out however is Willock. He had flashes of his old self - BUT, and it’s a big but, he was disgraceful out of possession. In the first half he let his man go three times. Marti was screaming at him. Also he has to score one of this chances.

Who does he think is going to give him a massive contract next season … does he think that they aren’t watching or something.

Frey ties up cliffhanger on home debut – Report
at 08:52 12 Feb 2024

Magnificent Clive, thanks. Welcome back!

I’ve been soooo fed up of explaining to anyone defending Dykes that he simply isn’t a championship standard striker. He has the first touch of a trampoline and is never, ever in the right place. In 15 minutes Frey showed us what a proper (unfit and not very mobile!) striker can do! That first header where he got ahead of his marker at the front post (just like Charlie Austin) is a position Dykes would never be in and then the finish was as calm and made to look simple because of his reading of the game and movement.

Also, I completely agree, we now have a midfield. Compare Dozzel (heaven help us) and Duke McKenna with Hodges and Haydens. Night and day.

Marti is also working miracles. The new CEO may be a child, but those four signings, getting rid of some deadwood from the field and back room staff, free scarfs and trying to fill the lower school end for the Rotherham game. Top marks.

We were down, I was certain. Now we have a chance but it completely depends on keeping the likes of Cook, Hayden, Coldback, JCS, Frey and Cannon fit to play.

Kelman out on loan to Wigan but contract extended
at 14:14 31 Jan 2024

I’m really pleased that the clear out of deadwood continues, albeit with this one having a contract extension at the same time. I wasn’t sure before whether this was all to get us under FFP or for signings.

Then the new CEO said no signings…but brings in a striker….so now I’m hoping this latest wage saved means we might get a prem loan midfielder tomorrow.

What do you all think?

A win - Report
at 17:14 21 Jan 2024

Thanks Clive.

As you say Colback was superb, but so was Cook. He makes a world of difference every time he is fit enough to play. He actually made Cannon and Begovic look poor simply because he took the ball and played it quickly when under pressure and then found out that those two couldn’t do the same thing and put it out of play under pressure when he passed to them!

The issue, which you constantly point out, is that our squad is just soooo thin. When we can’t get this lot on the pitch we look very poor.

Also I guess we have to play Willock for exactly this reason, but he is either shockingly out of form, still isn’t fit, or (most likely) can’t be arsed as his contract only has a few months to run. Hopefully Smyth can start next week.

I think we may win next week and all have some hope…and then crater again!!
