Crikey … that Kolli bloke is a hot topic.
For me, everything is in the hands of the player - the manager has made it clear his door is open and he’s ready to work with a fully committed footballer; the club provided alternative opportunities that Kolli and his ‘adviser’ dismissed. All he has to do is walk into JS’s office and say he’s ready to commit and get back in the matchday squad - no dramas, no outside influences, just be a QPR footballer bought into the way the club is being run now.
There’s been a few references using ‘Kolli’ and ‘flair player’ in the same sentence - sorry, can’t be having that, he is not a flair player. He’s an unproven striker with very few 90 minute first team games under his belt. He’s been here long enough, under a plethora of managers, and not managed to push-on. We have had seasons of attitude stories around him, his dad, his advisers - not from the club, but from ITK posters. I’ve seen some good moments from him and some poor performances - but not a lot of minutes to determine if there really is a Championship player in there. I’d like there to be, for all our sakes.
As I started, it’s firmly in HIS hands to prove everyone wrong. That includes most posters, bar a handful on here, and the current management set-up at HQ. I’d be more than happy to see him get in the squad, score 10 goals in a season, start 36 games in a season (like Kone) and push on from there to great heights for us and for himself.
This ‘incident’ talk - have we heard from the person(s) who supposedly said this and their side of the conversation? Just saying (in fairness). There’s always two sides. Just saying.
On the FF - it was a lot of good discussion. I thought all three answered questions well and there were a number of difficult questions brought out we would have wanted to hear about (injuries, Kolli, stadium problems, new stadium etc.).
We have all complained about the terrible toxic culture of the past and there seemed no way out of it over the last several years. It really does feel like this current group are turning that around finally. There’s no quick fix to changing culture but these guys are slowly doing it from all areas of the club. For me, that’s massive and long may we continue to push through it. We will come out so much better as a club and as a football team in the end. |

Nobody expects to lose a goal in that way after 30secs. I thought the red was at best a yellow, the ref was poor throughout for both sides. Send definitely was a sh1t how defending and I’d have expected better from Charles at that angle.
I think we were a bit shell-shocked after the goal and knocked for six at the sending off. I really expected JS to get them back on it for the second half and boy did those 10 players give it their all. Fantastic 10-man performance to dominate any team - yes PNE are poor but if they block and defend they shouldn’t lose that lead. We hounded them and pushed at them and deserves a win. To see management and players so dogged and determined. Bodes well for the season ahead.
Kamara was a different man 2nd half. Poku was strong against a poor team. Smyth did what Smyth does auperbly. Saito gave a great performance (except for the dive). We have some key players to get fit during the break and we will come back stronger again.
Gotta love football when it’s like this. That crowd were amazing!
Well done Rrrrrs. Let’s get on the training ground and push on again. There’s lot to be pleased about. |

Mbengue had a poor game yesterday after an excellent game against Bolton, but he’s a very different player to Lamptey and he definitely has his role in this squad. Could see the trio of Cirkin, Kamara and Lamptey (and Madsen tbf) are building minutes - clever from JS and the management team with games coming thick and fast. You have to feel there’s a bit more to come from all of them as the games tick over.

Was a typical first game of the season with both sides not on their game. But, I thought we generally looked good through that first half. Our moving and passing looked good; keeper distribution was good; our fitness seemed ok; everyone seemed up for it.
The goal was disappointing from both Mbengue (giving the ball away with a terrible pass) and Charles' poor decision-making on the cross (just tip it over).
Agree with most here, Burrell was in the wrong position and wasn’t engaged in the game at all; Chair was disappointing overall; Vale was a bit underwhelming for me; overall our final third work was woeful - all that possession up front and no shots on target is piss poor I’m afraid. That said, I thought we looked good in the middle and across the back
Penalties? What a pile of shit! Our four should be embarrassed and put in stocks at the training ground tomorrow. Call yourselves professionals!
It will be interesting to see the response down at Pompey. Come on u rrrrrrrrssss. |

Well we were apparently equal bottom in the league last year with nine. So the new coach will be very happy with the low bar to start from.
Seems if you want to be top eight you should be on 18 set piece goals for the season. |

With his injury back at the end of Sept last year a 9-12 months recovery period sounds about right. I’d be surprised if he plays more than half of the games as they manage his recovery. I imagine our options are covered if he collapses again.
It’s a calculated risk for sure. We’ll have to wait and see if this free signing works out.

Can’t see how we could reject £10m+ for Ronnie. He’s capable of slotting into their new back line.
I think the biggest problem is Ronnie would be too handsome for Burnley and his demands for a double locker in the dressing room (one for kit, one for beauty & grooming products) would likely be too much for Burnley to accept. So probably unlikely for a deal to happen because of that. |

Surely if JS was the puppet you say, he wouldn’t even be considering a contract extension. He can just see out his second year and move on comfortably to another club. Alternatively, he sees opportunity here with a club that’s trying to turn things around, take things a step forward and challenge for a promotion - a win, win for him.
Sure, he’s no Pep, but at least we’re not throwing the baby out with the bath water yet again. Let’s have some continuity and push on. |

As long as you see parents walking out with their kids, phone in hand and ignoring social interaction, you see them setting the standards of behaviour to their children. The kids are ignorant of the perils of social media and just trust in their parents to be doing the right thing and setting a suitable example.
How the hell the government expect to police this, I doubt they even know. Sound-bite politics from a running scared PM.
Now you get the hilarity of seeing couples out to dinner, both on their phone and not talking. Anti-social Society! |

Junket - some milk jelly dessert I had when about 10-12 y/o. Never understood it but my mother seemed to think I liked it - I didn’t.
Now, Angel Delight, in all those flavours, was OK in small doses - seem to remember Butterscotch was good.
In more recent times … haven’t had a kebab in years, need to rectify that. |

Kolli does have that air of confidence about him. He does get goals but only 5 (since corrected by DMM, it’s 6  ) of them. For me, his in-game decision making is poor right now. That is only going to improve through coaching, if he is prepared to listen. I think he has a future - will it be here?
He’s only a year younger than Kone but I’d take Kone every day of the year.
You could see a situation where the club sell him to get the cash; stick with Bennie and ‘the new guy who hasn’t played’, then investing elsewhere. We’ll find out when Kolli puts up his post with a new shirt on I guess. [Post edited 5 May 9:24]

You would hope it’s a wake up call for Field that he needs more to his game. Not getting regular starts with us, I imagine he thought Nawich would give him that - and it hasn’t. Surely he realises now he needs to up his game at 28. He’s contracted here, so get back to the training ground and win your place … or it can only be more of the same. |
