How unlucky are we with injuries. I hope, given how lamptey doesn't look too distraught that they are just being massively cautious to protect him, given his injury history, rather than this being him for a few months
I thought we'd lost our momentum we had at the start of the half but suddenly we're back and threatening again. I hope this injury doesn't reset things and we don't just fade away.
The last match I can attend for a while so if we could get our first home win of the season that would be perfect. We have played extremely well defensively, very well creatively and ok in terms of finishing chances so far. I think we will be made to work for a 2-1 win.
I really hope this is a 4-4-2 and not a 4-3-3. Ive not been convinced on burrell out wide yet. Strong side overall though, Cirkin starting suggests he kept his fitness up whilst a free agent.
Do we know what our midfield availability is? While I think Edwards has played well, I don't think he has the creativity of those who play regularly in midfield to help unlock defences. I'd be keen to see him move back to centre back today (though JCS has played well). Also would love to see Cirkin start but imagine it's probably too soon for him and will only be a sub. Lamptey definitely needs to build up minutes to get sharp again.
Very disappointing to lose like that on pens, but I felt there was quite a lot positives to take away from that.
Defensively very solid and gave nothing away (apart from the mistake for the goal).
Charles looks very comfortable on the ball and made a big difference to our control of the game - being able to recycle into an attack rather than just hoof it away.
Two big weaknesses today was chair and burrell. Burrell I'm not convinced about out wide, chair hopefully just an off day. Overall my optimism for the season hasn't been damaged too much.
My entirely uninformed take based on reading one article and googling our revenue last year, if we had a revenue of about £25m last year, plus a £10m owner contribution, take 85% of that is £29.75m on player wages and transfer fees (amortised), I feel like that's quite a lot compared to our wage bill, or am I completely misinterpreting it or using incorrect figures
That feels very bizarre. All the public messaging from the board has been that they are happy with this season, not that it has been a disappointment (obvs they're not going to criticise the manager publicly, but not even disappointment with league position).
So either this isn't true, or Stephan might move on, and this is a backup plan.
Says we shouldn't focus on short term-ism. Either pushing for promotion or worrying about bad results, keep working with the plan of signing young players, accepts we will get inconsistent results by adopting that plan.

I think is the most likely - i hope in practice it's more of a 4-3-3 with the wide players getting up the pitch a bit more rather than a sit back stodge fest but equally with how we've been playing any defensive solidity would be amazing

Thought there were some interesting insights in there. Really clear to see how he feels his performances last season were based on confidence and struggling to adapt. He also attributes some of the teams struggles more recently to injuries and our surprisingly high number of them (he describes it as 'unfortunate').
