If you are going to blame Peretz for the winning goal, you also need to blame Larin and Azaz for their piss poor finishing. Goals change games. If we had gone in at HT at least 2 goals to the good, the game is totally different and they were great chances that had to be put away.
Schlot is making a few errors every game at the moment. Perhaps he is still finding his feet in our team, having been thrown in at the deep end.
Edozie actually blocked JWP's first shot on goal. Luckily the rebound fell to him so he could score. Would have preferred Dobbin or Fellows, as Edozie doesn't want to be here, wanted to hand in a transfer request and will probably leave in January.
We are much slower than last season.
Hopefully things will gel and improve once all the spy gate stuff has been announced.

Perhaps reserve judgement until you have seen the other goals.
Nabizada was against us, so you will have seen it. He intercepted a pass before running 3/4 of the pitch unchallenged and slotted from a tight angle.
Morishita's goal was not dissimilar to Larin's. He controlled a ball on the edge of the box and volleyed it into the top corner.
We can't have our Cyle winning 2 awards in the same week, can we, so they will probably give it to Ballard for his fluke, although I personally think Morishita's goal slightly edges Larin's to top spot.
We shall see. |

Charlton are top on 9 points - so how would we be 1 point off top without our -4 ?
Millwall were not only top, but hadn't conceded this season.
Goals change games, as proved on Saturday. Once we equalised and then got in front, Millwall were. Different side from the opening 20 mins.
Jander has apparently suffered a minor set-back in training, but they are hopeful he will feature in the first team before the international break. |

In addition to Dobbin, we have signed Peretz and Larin on proper contracts, following their successful loans. We have also re-signed Bree !!
I'm sure there will be plenty more comings and goings before the season starts / transfer window closes.

MR - Gone backwards with injury and too negative when played - always going backwards or getting into trouble. Bree is much better at everything.
DD - He scored in preseason last year then did nothing. Bad attitude, lacked ability and didn't look like he wanted to be here. Maybe things will change this season, but I doubt it, so another loan is predicted, if we can find someone to take him.
JR - Others have overtaken him due to his injuries. Needs a run in the team, but probably won't get it unless he can deliver.
JQ - Always had a mistake in him and perhaps over-confident. Can't see him breaking into the side regularly, unless we have injuries, suspensions or sales.
JKS - was surprised he was loaned out last season. He was actually trying to organise the defence in the Prem which is a credit to someone so young. Like JQ, I can't see him being involved, but have high hopes in a year or 2, so maybe another loan ?
NO - May get the odd run-out off the bench, but it will depend on our transfer activity and if other forwards are brought in or loaned out.
From all that, my predicted Surprise Star is Jay Robinson. |

I feel that although he does a good job for us and offers something different up front, Larin simply doesn't put enough of his chances away.
In recent games he missed 2 sitters at Hillsborough, 2 great chances at Fulham and another at Coventry. He should also have buried that Matsuki cross as well, but he missed it completely. Fortunately it was tipped onto the post and Flynn tapped in.
He is definitely an upgrade on Downs, but really needs to start taking more of his chances, if we are to get to the play-offs. |

Tonda confirmed that Welly is definitely out with a muscle injury and will be absent for a couple more weeks. The scan on Jack Stephens was fine and he will be involved against Charlton. JayRob has a quad problem, so will miss the game and his situation will be monitored and managed over the next week or so. |

We are stronger as a squad because players have come back from injuries and loans, not because of our transfer activities in the window. If those players, or indeed others, should get injured this month, does that then negate your spin on things ?
I am surprised we let Arma go for only £7m (+£2m in potential add ons). He is currently the 3rd top scored in the Champ and and has 1.5 years left on his contract.
It is worrying that his (and D Downs) replacement is a relative unknown with no experience on our league.
We are financially stronger after this window for definite. Getting rid of so much dead wood, albeit that some are only for 6 months will help the club. I'm hoping they learn, so they know what to do when they come back in the summer - along with the likes of BB Diaz, Baz etc.
ABK 100% played for us in the Prem last season - maybe 3 or 4 times.
I think we can draw plenty of positives from what has happened in the last month, but I am not sure if a couple of good results mean we have turned the corner and are ready to make a push for the play-offs. Plenty of points to play for. Stop making the same mistakes and who knows where we might end up.

I don't think Lampard set up for a draw after the red card. They were winning 1-0 .
They were aiming to hang on for a win !!
We equalised not long after the red card and most thought we would go on to win it, but a combination of dogged defending, great goalkeeping and spurned chances meant it finished all square. Probably a result most would have taken before kick off and certainly at HT.
Regarding the dark arts, I feel we are too naive when it comes to dishing it out and being on the receiving end. We are too nice, too polite almost. Perhaps Romeu has been brought in to toughen everyone up !! :-) |

At times he was great for us - special match for me was Cov away. Dowie, Tiss, Magilton and Ronnie Eklund were all on form that day and Cov hardly got a touch, despite Bruce (possibly) letting one in after about 2 mins. We won 3-1.
I think he actually had an engineering degree - rare amongst footballers.
If he does go bankrupt, I guess it will test his 'boucebackability' !! :-) |

Went in that Walton Street Social Club in 2012. No idea what it is like now, but back then it was great. We got there early for our midweek game, parked up before their steward had arrived, so the lady said we can park for free, then £1 each to get in, as we weren't members. Good selection of cheaper than pub priced beers, pool tables, snooker tables and a decent but small food menu.
We were the first in, but probably more than 50 Saints fans there as we departed to the stadium. Recommend it from back then, but never had the time to go there again on subsequent visits - hopefully it is still good.
One of the guys we were with was loving a car in the big Stadium car park, as it had the number plate: LA11ANA |

That above photo of Josh Sims missing a great chance v Wolves.
He should have had 2 or 3 goals in the first half that day, but scored none.
Will always be remembered for his run and assist for Long v Liverpool at the Anfield leg of the Semi Final, but not a lot else.
Seem to recall he went on loan to Doncaster, NY Red Bulls and played for a team in Scotland, but apparently he is now at Yeovil. |

As with previous cup games, the opposition will have to help set the ticket prices - so this is not necessarily all on Saints.
Additionally, most other clubs use the booking fee to further exploit fans and many charge £2 per ticket.
There is a lot wrong with our pricing for this game and the subsequent additional fees for people deciding to go, but when compared to other clubs, i don't think we are quite as bad as some people wish we were !! |
