We did that in style today.
Awful for long periods, 2nd best most of the game.
Gifted BC so many chances that thankfully fell mainly to Ballard.
Bizarrely Larin got MOTM for his 2 goals, but offered little else.
Azaz was poor yet finished with a goal and 2 assists.
A result we all would have taken before kick-off
Need to sharpen up and cut out the errors at the back (Sclotterbeck)
The Ref was actually on Bristol City's books - no wonder he gave us very little.
Onwards and upwards - need to convert our home form to away games as well.
A similar win at Wrexham would be great to take into the international break. |

Larin seemed out of sorts. Awful first touch, struggled to lay it off, rarely contested a header, didn't make runs and was often outside the box when we wanted to put crosses in.

After the initial 20 minute Boro onslaught, there was only 1 team in it and we were playing against the ref as well.
Great victory under all the circumstances and you could see what a shift our players put in. Clearly we were a bit fitter than Boro.
The ref lost control of the game too often, allowed too much time wasting, Shirt pulling, Boro players to surround him too often and made some terrible decisions. He missed a possible hand ball penalty for them, but also missed fouls on Leo, Stewart and Larin for us. Boro number 2 made more than a dozen fouls yet didn't get carded til extra time. Same for Ayling - fouling and pushing all night then moaning and surrounding the ref when the decision goes against them. Then to top it all, Ayling pulls the name calling card, WAC.
Fully deserved. Created far better chances on the night and it was perhaps going to take something special to win this.
1 more to go lads
Rest up, train well and do it all again in 10 days time.

A totally flat and frustrating performance.
It was as if nobody wanted to get injured for Saturday.
Most players were poor, allowing BC to find their players in acres.
Didn't heed the early warning

Charles and Downes still don't seem to gel as the MF pairing
2 big men up top, Stewart scored from a cross, but then no more crosses
But we are still undefeated, have a wembley semi and the play offs to look forward to

Great result coming from behind to win.
Controlled the game but final third decisions let us down, along with some poor shooting.
Great Leo goal to get us back in it
Once THB put us in front, there was only one winner.
Just a shame we didn't add to the goal tally, especially with those great chances on the break.
Downes shaded MOTM for me, but most played well considering the bullying tactics and lack of protection from the ref with all those late "challenges".
All the subs contributed as well, apart from Edozie, who I thought was the laziest, slowest and most uninterested player on the pitch and Downes had to track back for him a good few times.

Move on to the next game on Tuesday, knowing that a win would take us into 4th place, just a point behind 3rd. |

Quality performance and result to send shockwaves to those in the playoff places.
Could easily have scored 10. Larin and Azaz should have had hat tricks. Good that we aren't relying on a single goal scorer.
Edozie not feeling the team vibe, needless dive at 2-0. Kind of gave up early in the 2nd half.
Definitely a foul on THB for their goal, but these championship refs are a funny bunch.
Stephens should have done much better with Windass though. Only 2 other scares of note, which both hit the post.

Massive result
The Norwich tactics to kick lumps out of us, then go for it, nearly worked.
How they got away with so much is beyond me. Kicks in the head, elbowing, arms round the neck, blatant pushing right in front of the ref. It was a fvckin joke.
Great goal but we really needed to push on, get a 2nd and put the game to bed. Unfortunately it was a lacklustre 2nd half with us giving the ball away so much, no wide outlets and not much creation.
To compensate this, we decided to try shutting up shop for the last 10 mins and injury time and just about held on thanks to some desperate defending and some top drawer saves from Peretz.
Matsuki was our worst player by far. Gave it away every time, couldn't pass, stupid flicks, so slow, never took his man on. Hero last Saturday, Zero tonight.
Bring on Oxford, who will also try to bully us I expect. |

Finally a win, but with more composure this could have been so much better.
Could easily have been 3 up at HT and added a couple more in the 2nd half.
Shooting practice definitely required for Sunday.
Good to see a back 4, but our 2 CBs still managed to get in each others way and Sheff U nearly scored from it FFS !! Both full backs were much better than the CBs on the night.
Once again though, we struggled to see the game out and we helped create chances for the opposition in the last 15 mins with silly misplaced passes, getting caught in possession and an inability to keep the ball. Some panic and desperate defending helped us see it out in the end.
An at times ugly win, but much needed and we would all be happy with a similar win on Sunday !!

Classic game of 2 halves.
Why we sat back and invited pressure AGAIN in the 2nd half, is beyond me.
We never learn and nearly came unstuck like at Millwall.
We got lucky again, just like v Birmingham.
We have 3 big CBs who can't win a header, especially from corners and a keeper who doesn't come off his line and command his 6 yard box, let alone his 18 yard box.
Anyway, a win is a win and I would have taken it before KO, so let's take the 3 points and move on. |

Job done - Swans were poor and helped make us look much better than in recent games and at least we didn't look like conceding the usual 5 goals at home.
Burnley will pose more of a threat in the next round, as will our next run of games in the Prem.

Brentford won at a canter and didn't even need to get out of 2nd gear.
Faster, Stronger, Better Set Up, Better Organised and wanted it more.
We didn't turn up for the 1st half hour, but still managed to gift them the opener with a sloppy pass and after that it was just a question of how many.
Piss poor defending throughout and nothing up front. My daughter said she could have played in goal for Brentford today and kept a clean sheet.
Sugawara off the bench to gift the opposition a goal once again FFS.
Don't know where we go from here, especially when you hear THB telling the Solent listeners that we were set up to win the game today !! |

At home against an opposition that we probably earmarked as a game to get points from, we play ultra-defensive, back 5, no striker, allow Forest to over-run our midfield, create fvck all, only actually attack in the last 10 mins - and relying on a youngster to do all the attacking.
Mainly pathetic from everyone, but especially the manager and his negative tactics.
I really don't know what they thought they had to do to win the game, but it wasn't showing on that pitch. Countless unforced errors and piss poor passing, together with a really naive approach, allowed Forest to not only dominate, but you always felt they could go up a gear or 2 if needed. (probably because we didn't stretch them at all).
Hopefully the Cardiff game is different from the Gillingham game of last season and we can actually draw some positives from the game, ahead of a very difficult trip to Brentford.

It very much reminded me on some of our games in the Champ last season.
Play quite well, have most of the possession and most of the chances.
Gift the opposition a goal.
Chase the game, but lack a cutting edge, throw on loads of subs and hope, but still play the same predictable, easy to defend against way, with nobody willing to step up and take responsibility in the game.
We should have been stretching them and tiring them out, not letting them score with their only shot on target. The sending off made us complacent and we thought we would win just because we had the man advantage.
I seem to recall something like that happening at Spurs about 4 or 5 years back. 1-1 and they had a man sent off, yet went on to win the game 2-1.
Very much a wasted chance to get a point or 3 on the board. |
