Games abroad

It will happen. They’ll start with the Community Shield but it will eventually be a Prem game some way or another. Spain will do it before we do. Already had the ‘Supercup’ in Riyadh.

New cheap season tickets

It’s a good idea and hopefully is justified with backing from the fans. Would’ve been nice to have the option when paying over double that to be down the other end.

Saw that a while ago. Always felt like one of those players who should have an impact but rarely seems to but then Stoke seem to make everyone crap. Just lost his dad of course.

Brighton roll call

I wouldn’t judge it on a friendly. Depends what sort of view you like but towards the back it’s a decent view and atmosphere can be very good. Your knees will thank you.

Do we remove the vote when people are of an age or level of health that their brain has deteriorated?

Loads of 16-17 year-olds aren’t in school. They have to be in education or training. Plenty will work on top of that. I’d argue it’s mental a Politics student of 17 can’t be trusted as mature enough to vote but 105-year-old Beryl who hasn’t worked for half a century and thinks it’s 1947 is.

If I was in the Burnley area with £55 to spend I’d probably buy a house instead.

Was safe standing designated as a family area? Was like a crèche near me so makes sense. Stuck my free cap in the flappy seat thing then forgot about it. Loads left over though after the game.

I guess they take the view, probably rightly, that there’s more chance of converting first-timers into regulars doing it for a game like this than for us saddos making our way to a televised 12:30 against Championship fodder. Was a nice idea and someone is always going to try and cash in. I think there’s a Derby t-shirt from that 4-2 away win floating about on eBay somewhere.

Bit of tactical voting and he’d have done it.

Next England Manager

We’ve had English managers before who didn’t work either. I doubt Klopp would fancy it but there’s a good argument for him being the top target. Not exactly a clear English option at the moment.

I think I’d give even that fat orange lunatic the benefit of the doubt on this one but as conspiracy theories go it’s more believable than most.

There’s a massive court backlog too. Cases being given dates in 2027. Basically everything is broken and it’s going to take some extreme measures to start to fix them in just about every area. I very much doubt Labour/Starmer want to be doing this.

Making people healthier in general is a great investment even ignoring the non-financial reasons for doing so. Fewer beds taken up in hospitals, less work absence, better productivity, smaller waiting lists meaning problems don’t worsen as much and become more expensive to treat if they can be treated at all. All that guff about whether or not to fund school meals but that small investment saves a fortune down the line in avoiding malnourishment. Health really is wealth.

Transfer rumours 2024

A combination of age, injury risk, time on his contract and our need to sell relative to those clubs. He had a really strong run of games and at his best he’s a quality player but this time last year he was worth somewhere between less than nothing and nothing. £6m is fair and a rare example of selling a player for a huge profit for this club. If we hold out for a year, he’s pissed off and has an ok or worse season we get another paltry fee like for Rob Dickie.

Budapest / watching the final
at 07:44 12 Jul 2024

Hi chaps/chapesses. Will be in Budapest on Sunday, landing hopefully with a couple of hours to spare to get somewhere decent to watch it. A few google results but any recommended bars for the game from our hardened Euro travellers? Preferably one some English are likely to be at. I’m staying just to the West of the river near the Szechenyi Lanchid bridge if that means anything to anyone.

Also general Budapest recommendations? Went about a decade ago for a stag but the less remembered about that the better.

Put another way, about 45% more votes than second place.

The inevitability of the result suppressed turnout a bit no doubt (as it did in 2001) as the voter ID laws did. Not that it matters whatsoever. Smaller parties campaigned on “Labour winning is inevitable so vote for us” which isn’t one I’ve seen before.
