I’d remove Premier League clubs from the Caraboa Cup, make it an EFL cup only. Then get rifd of that poxy pointless Cup that div 1 & 2 teams play with Premiership Youth teams.
It’s not like Premiership Teams (or Us until the 1st time this year) take it seriously and put out strong teams until the Semis/Final.
I guess it would leave 72 teams, so it would need work to reduce it to 64.
Preliminary/Qualifying round 1 or Bye’s to the 2nd round and reams promoted from the Conference replacing those relegated from D2.
Do we really need 3 cup competitions ? |

Thanks for this Dave (&Rik), v South Shields was the 1st QPR game my Father took me to. It was the only time I saw Marsh play for us, scoring twice. The start of 56 years (& counting) of emotional highs & lows. Lovely to watch (most) of that games (highlights) again, you’ve made an old git smile. |

And the season before, Ainsworth kept us up.
Not many look back on him fondly (as a Manager).
I think most peoples dislike of Marti comes from him touting himself out to Stoke, Leicester, etc. whilst still being fairly fresh in his position with us. That and the poor run prior to his departure.
He did give us hope at one point though. |

I get he should want to stop Sky showing his image every transfer window, but it feels like he trying to turn it into a race things.
Like many, I suspect had No idea or interest that he was half Nigerian & half Russian or that 3rd parties in the car were Ghanian or Jamaican. So what ?
Didn’t we sign SWP instead ? Maybe Odemwingie would have wanted to play more that little Shaun did.
He hardly overachieved after that night. At West Brom or the Wasteland that is Cardiff and finally somewhere in Asia. Maybe he thinks the money from the shirt sale should have gone to him, not charity….? |

UB40 fell severely from grace.
Signing off is a great album (IMO), some early non album singles too. Even Present Arms was quite good. But from Labour of Love vol 1 (did they need vols 2, 3 & 4 ?), they pretty much remained a covers band. Until of course they had a family feud and became 2 covers bands.
Most overated band for me (Tin hat on) - Radiohead. |

Bloody marvellous, couldn’t help laughing out loud as it transpired last night.
Ironic and poetic justice in my mind. A Very dubious injury time penalty being converted as virtually the last kick of the game, against a more deserving Hearts side, got them into the Champions league playoffs in the first place. Karma.

Being ‘slightly’ pedantic, but I wouldn’t class Venables as a Manager. More a brilliant Head Coach, they probably didn’t use such a term in the UK at the time, but his forte was Coaching platers and his Tactical ideas. Us, Palace, Varxa & England were all great to watch under him. |

You’ve picked 4 good loan examples there, but for each one there are hundreds/thousands that have been Far less successful. For us and for others.
I’m not against loans. But we should make sure we have sufficient cover before we lose him for a season (or t’il Jan). No point in him being shipped out long term if we only have a ‘nearly’ fit Kamara.
Yes, Edwards ‘Can’ play there, but he’s a CB first & foremost.
With our injury record last few seasons, I’d keep him in Our squad for the foreseeable, especially as he can cover 2, 3 or 4 roles. There’s no urgent rush to loan him out. Maybe deadline day, maybe January ?
I’d focus on getting the aged 18-20 Dev Squad players out first. [Post edited 20 Aug 23:20]

Agreed.
We’ve lost Hayden & Field from last season.
Brought in only Kamara, who’s not yet fully fit.
Why be so keen to ship Morgan out on loan ?
He is good cover for 4 positions, thus a valuable member of the squad. IMO. |

To think someone on a £100k a year (probably) came up with the ‘Vertical Drinking’ term, probably while he was sat in a wine bar after work.
Imagine having to stand outside with all those smelly smokers ?
Stopped visiting Soho & West End years ago for many reasons, None of which involved sitting inside or standing outside a pub. |
