Great tv but what a horrible managerial duo

If this scoreline remains the same, I can see that 'other thread' getting an airing again.

There may well be a managerial vacancy at Meadow Lane. Not surprisingly, I may add.

Salford have been excellent. It's Notts Cheaty that look like the hoofball playing non league team.

Poll: Now the club has refused to move on sesaon ticket prices what will you now do?

Forget Cheaty. Salford have played some great football tonight, fantastic performance. Proper football and far more enjoyable to watch than the boring Premiership.

The Notts manager has chucked two more strikers on to get a goal. 4 up front when they couldn't get hold of the ball anyway. Genius.

Possession with progression.

He'll have a laugh about it when he hears how Jenas kept pronouncing Salford.

He said being from Nottingham he's allowed to pronounce it that way.

Ha, good point.

He blamed it on his Nottingham accent.

I didn't hear him say that, but he could've told us how you pronounce Jean-Arse in a Nottingham accent

Another Man United satellite team for the disenfranchised.

Salford used to wear orange; now it's red and white.

It might make good telly but there will be some Salford fans who've been there from the beginning and don't have their team any more.

While disagreeing with the colour change, the programme illustrated Neville's desire to maintain the relationship with the club's die hard support.

Don't understand why they went to United colours at all, the point being made about FCUM using them being the main one. Create some unique distinction.

The concerns of their supporters would be mirrored precisely by ourselves if someone with huge wealth stepped in and took over the running of Dale. I hope it never happens, with the sole exception of it being someone who'd been supporting Dale, exclusively, for a very long time. The very identity of the club would be at stake.

We only need to glance a few miles down the road to see what can happen. Glance, and shudder.

The same happened at Hyde, but that was unashamedly so. The United was dropped from the name, the kit changed to sky blue and City appeared all over the ground. They're out of that now, and seem much happier for doing so.

You'd have thought that many of the core Salford supporters had chosen Salford over Man U rather than going there because they cant afford Man U, so to align the club with Man United could only damage that core support.

To be fair, the documentary didn't shy away from showing the fans who aired those views. The kit and brand change clearly did irk some of the long-term supporters.

They also expressed concern at 50% of the club being sold to the Singaporean businessman.

I think some feared a Vincent Tan-style dictatorship.

But one thing I like about Gary Neville is how he's come across, as a bloke, since retiring. He speaks his mind and that suggests honesty. He does genuinely seem to be in this to give something back to grassroots football.

That line he said about the club being part of the community, the fans being able to stand with a beer, watch the game and socialise with their mates, summed it up.

You don't get that at Man United or almost any Premier League club.

I suppose that's why the vast majority of us support Dale.

What I liked about it was that it clearly shows why people support football clubs outside of the premier league. The buzz of winning, the despair of defeat is the same, if not greater, than that of the prem when you care about and identify with a club and go to games.

Hopefully the fact that some of the class of 92 have chosen to do this will erode some of the premier league snobbery that exists.

Spot on !!

The class of 92 will be careful to change things gradually ..there must be a temptation to throws plenty of cash on player recruitment...5ks the most they've spent so far..i hope they recruit plenty of youngsters who are UK born and bred..to completely oppose the prem obsession with bringing in johnny foreigner which has led to the decline of our national sides esp England.
The interesting phase will come when the clubs progress thro the leagues stalls as it will..
Too much change too soon switches off the die hard fans as it would for you Daleys

Of course! Commonplace.

Gareth Seddon's tan clashed with orange so he probably requested the change.

Watching that game last night was like a breath of fresh air. The little refreshment kiosk, having a pint whilst watching the game, standing where you want, cheap admission, an affinity with the players, good honest hard tackling football.

Even at our level, the 'Matchday experience' is quickly dissapearing. You can't do this and you can't do that. Buy your ticket early or we will charge you more on the day of the match. It's like Football Clubs are actually doing the supporters a favour these days.

I can see the attraction of supporting a Salford, Stalybridge, Ramsbottom, Fylde. God forbid anything ever happened to the Dale then that's the direction i would be looking to get my Saturday fix.

Neville might like it for all the things you mentioned but does he not see that eventually a lot of that will disappear if his investment "works" and he gets them in the league?
