You could go crazy with the genre of these bands from the 80's being punk, post punk, goth, new wave, alternative rock, neo-psychedelia etc. But fcuk I've just checked and The Cult are in so well done Blucey so I'm going to have to include what was, for me, their signature tune;

Some very fin photography from the same era. Can you imagine a skinhead band or National Front marching in Brixton>? Well they used to allow it until the riots.
Post punk Manc Free 'all and all that. Barney totally fcks up the intro but fck me. 1981. With Rob Gretton as your Manager and some fine songs it could only succeed. Nobody dances to guitar music anymore.
