Match thread: Bury (A) on 22:33 - Apr 13 by Shun | I disagree that Bury are the worst side we've seen all season. Chesterfield and Cov were much worse. Gillingham weren't far off too. Bury were better than us in the first half tonight and Vaughan in particular looked like he might cause some problems. Overall we deserved the win though after a good second half. McGahey was my man of the match, he's going to be some player if he continues this improvement. Andrew and Keane were also excellent. I love Keane in defence but he makes such a difference in midfield like tonight. |
They lumped it forward and ran about a bit. Styles is a tidy player, Vaughan while not doing very much is obviously good, Leigh has improved, that's about it. They're lower L2 standard. (didn't go to Coventry and Chesterfield were ok second half) Keane will be very effective in that role if we can get him fully fit, he laboured a bit tonight. But his experience counts for a lot.

Match thread: Bury (A) on 22:40 - Apr 13 with 2636 views | Daley_Lama | I'm with Shun. bury were decent first half, energetic, chasing us down and knocking us out of our stride. Second half however, as they tried to be more attacking, they left them open time and time again. We didn't capitalise and i feared our achilles heel injury time would strike ince more. Thankfully it didn't. 44 Caddis for them did a cracking job at RB Two centre halfs played great for us.

I agree. Thought Bury definitely had the edge in the first half. We were running round like headless chickens at the beginning of the match as they were playing at a fast pace and loked dangerous at times. Luckily we settled into the game and had a much better second half. Would have liked us to score a second in front of the Dale end but no complaints - especially as I really thought we would come away with nothing tonight. And yes, Keane had a good game and some excellent defending from McGahey. Calvin definitely looked more at home up front. Joe Bunney had a very shaky first half but looked much better as the game went on.

Match thread: Bury (A) on 22:49 - Apr 13 with 2527 views | 442Dale | Tactically Bury did well first half, their lack of quality puts them in the rubbish bracket. Credit to Clark for stifling us with a diamond that stopped us playing out from the back as Vaughan and Pope split to cover the full backs when Logan had it. It was noted that once their energy levels dropped, they fizzle out because of that obvious absence of inspiration. We took too long to stretch them across the width of the pitch, but once we started and that goal went in the result was only in doubt if we made a mistake.

Match thread: Bury (A) on 22:52 - Apr 13 with 2479 views | D_Alien | Would pretty much echo what's been said. Neither side played well but once we took the lead bury's confidence looked shot and with a bit more composure when breaking we could've wrapped it up more easily; in particular, Bunney's final ball was lacking which is unusual for him McGahey was outstanding, doing Big Jim's work as much as his own although Jim looked a bit more secure tonight, must help having Keano in front of them At least it keeps the pressure on those above us and it'll be interesting to see what pressure does tomorrow. As for now, it's always a delight to come away from gigg lane with a smile on the face

Match thread: Bury (A) on 22:55 - Apr 13 with 2437 views | sweetcorn | Terrible game and not getting the 3 points would have been tough to take.. McGahey was excellent and comfortably man of the match. Prefer henderson through the middle than out wide. Was lund injured or is that the last we see of him in a dale shirt? Highlight of the game was the group of 15 year olds walking in, in their best stone island clobber giving it large. Had me laughing for a while.

It says L0-1 in my programme. :) So where does 5-0 come from? Bury 2-0 & 1-0 Oldham 1-0 & ? Bolton 1-0 & 0-1 Or am I missing something?

Poor maths from me sir. My 5-0 was Bury (h) 2-0 Oldham (h) 2-0 Bury (a) 1-0 Oldham (a) ???? 2+2+1=5 0+0+0=0 Bolton excluded as not a derby for me. They only hate Blackburn or something like that. The correct answer should have been 4-0 as I incorrectly remembered us beating Oldham 2-0, when actually it was 1-0. Old age excuse once more, it's getting as repetitive as my dog ate my homework. When I was a child I think I would have got an F as my answer was wrong In the current climate however I reckon I would get a B+ for showing my working out. In Summary (always summarise young Lama!) 4-0 in derbies so far this season. 5-1 if you include Bolton as a derby

In the current climate, there's no such thing as a B, never mind a B+. I blame Michael Gove - for most things.

Match thread: Bury (A) on 22:25 - Apr 13 by 442Dale | And we'd need Bury to get something at Southend. Bury were awful tonight, possibly the worst side quality-wise we've faced all season. We did enough but our decision making when breaking was pretty average again, something that has been an issue for weeks. However, we defended set pieces as well as we have all season. McGahey or Calvin man of the match. |
Andrew?????? are you for real, he shouid of had at least two from crosses in second half , never won or even attempted to win anything in first half pen box. Seriously this hero worship of sh"t3 players amazes me! As a centre forward you anticipate and make the space and time your runs into the box, this clown hasnt got a clue and if you are basing a good play off run or even promotion on him next season then god help us...no chance! Maghey did very well last night looked strong and fast I was impressed but nowt to beat we should of damaged their goal difference a bit more. We desperately need a proven centre forward.
