Eire 3-0 Russia
Givens hat-trick. Mancini red-card ☘️☘️

And of course, not this game but Camden Town born Terry Mancini’s debut In Dublin he turns to Givens in the line-up saying, “Fk me their national anthem goes on a bit” Givens replies, “This one’s ours” Always worth repeating.

Mancini had 5 caps, I think, and couldn't find Ireland on a map.

This is how far they've got...

Apart from Mancini, that team's about right so far.

I could be wrong but isn’t Terry Mancini the only Irish player to score against Brazil. Just saying.

Well they don't come any more more Irish than Olamide Oluwatimilehin Babatunde Oluwaka Shodipo and he would be a shoe in for a winger.

The grass is always greener.

Ian Stewart has to get in that XI as a winger. And then of course there’s the up and coming Aramide O’teh.

Unbelievably Ted, he was on loan from Liverpool.

That game against Middlesbrough at LR easily one of the top 3 or 4 performances I've seen in an Rs shirt. He was unplayable. If I remember rightly Nigel Pearson was playing out of position at right back for them that evening and was hauled off at HT after Kennedy had him on toast in the first 45.

I remember the game, he was a superb player I always thought he was on loan from Wolves but you are right it was the bloody scousers.
Not sure what happened to his career when he went back to his parent club.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

I could be wrong but isn’t Terry Mancini the only bald-headed Irish player from Camden Town to score against Brazil? Just putting it out there.

Nice one Brian.

Ok, I've just trawled through the entire FAI records on every single one of the two Irish players who scored against Brazil and, well, Liam Brady wasn't bald.

So, you're right. As ever.

The votes are in and the XI chosen are Paddy Kenny (born in Halifax) Ryan Manning, Terry Mancini (Camden Town)Richard Dunne, Alan McDonald, Michael Robinson (Leicester), Martin Rowlands (Hammersmith) Gary Waddock (Kingsbury) Ian Stewart, John Byrne ( Manchester) Don Givens. So 54% weren't born in the Emerald Isle.
