A real worthwhile thing to do imo. I'm WFH for the foreseeable and can spare a couple of hours a day so registered last week after Matt Hancock discussed on the daily update.

There are a number of ways to help like transporting supplies/medication between sites, collecting shopping/prescriptions etc, transporting discharged patients home (DBS req) or if you don't fancy or are unable to go out, you can provide phone support to those in need of a friendly voice to talk to.

Got confirmation of registration on Friday and just back from my first "mission" delivering a few prescriptions. Furthest i travelled was about 3 miles from my door.

Anyone not already done so, you can sign up at https://www.goodsamapp.org/NHSvolunteerresponders

Done it last week, but because I wasn’t in the first wave I’ve got to wait a while for them to process my application.
Seeing as I’ll be sitting on my backside for at least 3 weeks,I had to do something to avoid painting the outside of our house.

I've signed up as well, just waiting to get verified.

Had no excuse not to. Would be shameful sitting about whilst someone needs medication or food.

Still contemplating this as although I'm a qualified CFR with the NHS ambulance service, I'm officially in a 'vulnerable' group (age etc.) Not sure if I'd be any good at the phone conversation option. Mrs Hants is also always busy with Good Neighbours activities but they've almost stopped as many of the drivers are also >70. Keeping options open at the moment,...will support as much as I can in the best way I can, this amounts to staying home at the moment.

If you're in the vulnerable cat don't do it. Stay in and keep safe, I appreciate it must be frustrating, but it's the right thing to do.

I would do except...is anyone 100% confident they feel fine? Not sure if it's paranoia or too much time on my hands, but I feel rough all the time.

Not rough but definitely lost my oomph, staying in bed longer and not wanting to do much around the house, ( this is my fourth week of captivity due to my ankle)

That's part of my dilemma, I'm actually quite fit and agile and generally in good health, so it feels quite odd queuing up with the other oldies outside Waitrose. Only did that once to be fair. Will accept advice re isolation though - makes sense. Well done all volunteers!

I called and said I was a breast specialist. Well, not specialist as such, but an enthusiastic amateur with warm hands. They said that the NHS was overstretched and that they had no time for time wasters.

I start Monday.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Yes, are they going to test transport volunteers to make sure they haven't got the virus?
