Funny thing was that all the facts were in Brentford’s own website when commemorating 50 years of it.
Just filter out all the sly digs and jibes at us and it’s all in there. They approached us to buy them out but that doesn’t make headlines. The papers sensationalised it to make it look the other way around and it’s what fans and players believed (and still do) because, as we know, everything in the papers must be true. |  | | |

Your Brentford supporting (ex) customer knows little about it either as it was 1967 and not 1969 he quoted.
It seems that fans of a club that was neither predator or prey were desperate for rivalry so adding geography to a falsely concocted story has given them something to cling on to for years when no one else seemed bothered. They have a bloke with a microphone who has wasted his whole life getting angry about the wrong thing and stirring it up with generations of the fan base. [Post edited 4 Apr 2021 22:57]
