| FAO Dutch on 18:34 - Mar 6 by BrianMcCarthy | Excellent analysis, Hunter. Agree with it all, but would also this - the big win today was that we learned that Austin can play up front without support, can play in a footballing possession-orientated, passing-orientated team and that we don't have to go direct. That's big for us to know that we can play that way with Austin. Huge. |
Agree with that Brian. I have been an advocate of Charlie needs a partner but today has me rethinking. The proof will be whether it works consistently, as opponents study us and try to find solutions to nullify us. We will probably have to mix it up a bit and keep rotating the other forwards to keep them involved, if mainly from the bench. Excited by Willock and Chair in the same team and both playing so well. I didn't think that would work either as they seemed to be in competition for the same position. Having Field and De Wijs seemed to both strengthen our defence and make us more mobile from the back.

Field was my big tip for the top a week or so ago, Repeat what I said then, an injury free pre season and run up to Christmas and we might get offers for him in Jan.

| FAO Dutch on 18:54 - Mar 6 by TacticalR | It's as though we had picked up Barnsley's pressing style without resorting to their Bouncy Ball football. |
https://beestactical.substack. Brentford analysis of Barnsley a couple of weeks ago had us in a group of four including themselves, Barnsley and Rotherham leading the division in pressing metrics, or at least a key indicator. [Post edited 8 Mar 2021 11:08]
