| Ryan Woods red card 21:35 - Nov 23 with 4219 views | Antti_Heinola | Can't stand commentators who hate diving but excuse cynical hacks like Woods' hack just now in the Cov-Bir game. He wasn't even last man, absolutely no need to do it, just launched and with no intention o playing the ball, takes him out. Sky comms saying it was a yellow, but for me, should be a red all day long. Absolutely hate those 'challenges'. It's not taking one for the team, it's cheating. Get off. If you *try* to play the ball - fair enough. When it's like that, I have no sympathy. | |

| Ryan Woods red card on 16:51 - Nov 24 by PinnerPaul | Back to the Ryan Woods card. A referee on RefChat sums it up much better than me "To be fair to the player here and players in all levels of football, I think most want a red card for tackles like this where the sole intention is to foul to SPA whilst the ball is miles away. Fans want it too imo. But the issue here is we are not there yet. This has been a yellow card for practically every referee in world football at all levels for years and years. Therefore, I can see why the player and his team are so angry. Of course I can see the SFP angle to this, and in time these types of tackles will probably be reds. But imo this needs to be a directive from above communicated to all stakeholders at the start of the season. This almost feels like a rogue incident. And to repeat, I do want to see a red for these challenges, but its very clear that it would normally be yellow and therefore the anger from the effected team is understandable." |
Agree, always a red in my book. Its cheating.
| Why does it feel like R'SWiPe is still on the books? Yer Couldn't Make It Up.Well Done Me! |

I agree with Antti's comments and Willock's kick out at Bournemouth has got nothing whatsoever to do with it. Yes, deliberately breaking up play is normally yellow but in this case it wasn't the typical cynical hold or trip. IMHO, it was a violent challenge which deserved a red under the current laws of the game and their application. Wilson got one in the Euro's for a far less violent challenge. Birmingham have got a nerve complaining about it. Please don't let Woods get away with it on appeal. If they try, add to the ban for a frivolous attempt to overturn it.
| Ryan Woods red card on 10:22 - Nov 25 with 804 views | DWQPR | If Woods was a red card then the same could be said for the Huddersfield No.10 last night with a cynical hack on Albert if I recall in the first 10 minutes, which the ref allowed to let the game continue before coming back to book the player. | |

If I remember correctly Albert managed to keep his feet, or get back to them, and continue the move. Therefore, I believe this challenge was not in the same league as Wood's.

It was just as cynical a hack as Woods was and it was testament to Albert that he got up and carried on as he saw an opportunity for an attack. Another player would have rolled around in agony. And their player made much more contact than Woods did.

On that one, he is cautioned for a reckless tackle. If it was a careless tackle but breaking up a promising attack, then no card (another recent law change) as attack continued because he played advantage. Sooooooo those advocating red for these ball no where near challenges, wanted Illias sent off last night I guess?

can't recall which one that was, but if it was same or comparable as Woods - absolutely. That was sort of the point of the thread.

It wasn't dangerous but was more like Chellini's, - tried to pull the shirt of the guys back to stop him progressing - he got a yellow card. The challenge on Albert was a yellow, for the reasons I stated above. Thought ref was good and let a bit more go than the average championship ref - pretty consistent both sides I thought. Haven't seen back the late penalty shout they had yet, so can't comment on that. We had a few pen shouts 2nd half, one of the handball ones looked a decent shout to me - none of the others seemed convincing - but once again that's based on 1 view live (All the ref gets, as I've said before) Was so worried about them scoring at the end that I didn't even notice it live in the ground!

yeah i'm a bit more forgiving of a shirt tug. Agree, there was one handball shout i think from an Adomah cross that looked a decent shout, but no chance with the others.

Agree with all that Pinner, including that the ref was good. However, I think Chellini's was also worthy of a red, as you highlighted, it was done in a very aggressive manner. Seems that this part of the law needs revisiting but don't ask me what it should say. lol

Last part I agree and yes also agree its difficult to phrase, can't see how you can write it so that Chellini goes but Chair's is ok!
