In finding three teams worse than us for 23/24 news... on 16:24 - May 16 with 1711 views | terryb | I think Plymouth will surprise some of you. I would say that they are a lot better side than the one that finished above us in 2004. They definitely looked good & played attractive football the few times I saw them on television. The Plymouth - Ipswich match was the best EFL game I saw in the season, with Plymouth outworking, out thinking & outplaying them. Three to finish below us? Cardiff, Stoke, Huddersfield, Rotherham & the winners of the League One play off. Just three more to find for us to finish 16th!

I've watched Plymouth a couple of times recently and they were absolutely fantastic - particularly their performance at home to Derby, I thought was excellent. However... I saw a piece with Steven Schumacher this week where he says they've done the whole thing on £4.1m. That's for transfer fees, wages, travel, accomodation, meals, bills, everything. I'm sure he's exaggerating slightly, but if it's anywhere close to that then it is insane. Sheff Wed who they've beaten to promotion reckon they've spent £25m+ again. We've just posted a loss of £28m, and they reckon they've run an entire promotion campaign spending only £4m? Unfortunately for them there is no better indication of Championship performance than wage bill. Bar Luton, the league basically is a sliding scale of who pays what. Rotherham, even with quite a splurge by their standards in January, nearly straight back down again. Plymouth will have to really, really go some to compete at this level if they're spending even double or triple that amount this season.

I would agree long term Clive, but if Plymouth can keep the basis of that side together for next season, they will have one season in the top half. Once the players start leaving is when their problems will surface. A very similar story to 20 years ago!

That's an amazing figure from Sheffield Wednesday. Surely, even with their crowds, they can't sustain those figures much longer. Is it the same owner who thought he could spend his way out of The Championship? Moore must be getting ready for a pay off having failed to gain promotion! Their next appointment will be interesting.

I think a big part of their success this year has also been that all five of their loans were fantastic for them - opposite of us. Will that be replicated next year? I hope so, I like Plymouth. Not at our expense of course.

I think that keeping hold of their manager is the key thing for Plymouth next season.

In finding three teams worse than us for 23/24 news... on 18:37 - May 16 with 1267 views | derbyhoop | Based on 2nd half of season and GA's threats of the likely style, finding any team worse than us will be a challenge. FFP fallout could undermine Stoke and Birmingham. Watford and WBA the same but ought to have enough left. If pushed:- Huddersfield, w/o Warnock Stoke Play off winners

I think this applies to Ipswich as well, although they have far more resources than Plymouth. Ipswich supporters are more concerned that Mckenna might go than any player leaving.

In finding three teams worse than us for 23/24 news... on 09:32 - May 17 with 842 views | easthertsr | I always think it's far too early to predict next season's table. Players and managers will come and go across the summer and by the end of August squads and backroom staff will look very different. Only then can you make educated guesses about how teams will do. Having said all that I think we'll finish 16th next season !
