Major FFP Reforms coming 11:36 - Mar 12 with 13221 views | QPRConor2000 | Not sure if anyone has seen this, but the PL are replacing the current PSR rules in the PL with new rules based on UEFAs new squad cost ratio. This new rule would basically mean teams not competing in Europe are limited to spending 85% of their income on player wages, transfers along with agents fees, those in Europe will be limited to 70 percent. I expect we will see these changes in the Championship as well.
Major FFP Reforms coming on 11:40 - Mar 12 with 7431 views | Northernr | That would mean significant changes to the way just about every Championship club currently does business where 100%+ of turnover is spent on wages. It will also continue to exacerbate the problem of those clubs already with money will just accelerate more and more away from those that don't.

Which is probably the reason it’s being changed.

Major FFP Reforms coming on 11:59 - Mar 12 with 7267 views | Juzzie | There's got to be a way that owners can blow as much as they like on a club as long as the debt isn't saddled onto the club and the funds are in place first so you don't get owners leaving £millions in unpaid bills otherwise the Championship will just become PL MKII where the clubs with bigger stadia will have the advantage (maybe the intention, will curtail pesky little clubs having ideas above their station). https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/besucherzahlen/wettbewerb/GB2

There's indeed a way, but it would put at risk the power of the current power brokers. That's why it won't happen, and we're left with all these other rules which protect the power of the current power brokers

Major FFP Reforms coming on 12:27 - Mar 12 with 7115 views | sprocket | Players, agents, club staff get paid too much and need to rein it in. That will result in big clubs dominating, getting more revenue and ultimately become profitable. It will mean that clubs like QPR, who have rich owners are unable to spend and will ultimately continue to lose money hand over fist and eventually walk away. We have been extremely lucky to have owners who are willing to spend 3-400m to keep QPR going. Mad.

Without wishing to reignite a well worn debate, we've also been very unlucky to have owners on two occasions who've spunked large and comparable sums respectively, and been effing useless to boot! That's ultimately why we are where we are.

Their inability to run the club well is not in doubt however their willingness to fund is also not in doubt. [Post edited 12 Mar 13:16]

Don't understand why they just don't let them go and get on it. Not as if they're sharing their wealth down for the greater good, what is there to lose? Fck em!

I would say they are terrified of losing the advertising and sponsorship opportunities which the largest clubs offer them.

Fine. Major reset when all new player contracts have a zero or two knocked off them. If all EFL clubs are affected it'll be a level (of sorts) playing field. The gravy train stops. [Post edited 12 Mar 14:17]

Exactly. I can't see any downside of letting the Top 6 (or whoever) bugger off to their European Super League and let the rest of us enjoy a decent competitive domestic league.

Kinda think if both parties I'm referring to could have got the first part right, the second might not have been required.

Major FFP Reforms coming on 15:08 - Mar 12 with 6234 views | Wegerles_Stairs | They need to feck off and form the European/Saudi Super League. The PL is uncompetitive bar the few teams at the top. Even financially doped sides like Chelsea can't compete. All three promoted teams may come straight down and be replaced by the three teams who were relegated last season, which would be quite something. I love the Championship but the top end is getting every bit as predictable as the PL, Ipswich notwithstanding.

It's the same when talking about "increasing match/non-match-day income". At some point whatever is in place (ground size/ticket sales, catering, merchandise, corporate facilities etc) is potentially going to max out. Then what? Players then wanting ever more money. More, more, more. So you have to come up with yet more limited, exhausting and ever more difficult ideas (whilst still ensuring all existing ones are running at 100%) to get more money in. You get to the point where the effort put in is completely disproportional to where it's going and an ever fragile house of cards is building. I'm all for people earning good money, I'm all for companies making a profit but the sheer greed (because that's all it is.... you don't need £100k a week to live) just has to stop.

This is where our academy needs to start producing. It's a topic done to death(i'm aware) but if the first team has a competitive mix of youth, senior pros and some up and coming lower league players you have a great balance and will ultimately reduce your payroll. Possibly changing the structure of the players contracts could help as well - a bit FM/CM but weighting the contracts more to appearances/goals/assists/clean sheets. I'm hoping our fresh new CEO is doing a root and branch study of the club and the behind the scenes is identifying ways to streamline and structure us better off the pitch. As Clive has said on countless occasions we are behind the curve on the money we can generate from sponsorship, see Stoke/BET365 for example. Also, if we have a smaller 1st team we supplement it with the best young Pros coming through from the youth team.
