Will be glued to the screen for the next few weeks, watching anything and everything. The Olympics are my favourite sporting event ever since I got hooked on the 1972 games.
Arrived in Paris yesterday. Amazing to see so many French people smiling, being polite, and offering service without the Gallic shrug of indifference!
I know Derby is up next week, anyone else visiting? If so, lets reserve tables at the Georges V and push on from there.

The only semi good thing about this ceremony so far. It has been boring AF for most of it.
I thought the concept of it going down the Seine was a good idea but I didn't realise how hard it would be to pull off. I guess the organisers didn't either. What's with the Assassin's Creed torch bearer on the rooftops?

I until recently worked with a very nice chap who also happens to be gay.
Rather stupidly perhaps but have strange fascination with eurovision and after this last one, asked him on the Monday did he watch it and he said no because it's too gay.
It was almost every act had some elements within so he thought it was ridiculous and overexaggerated.

I felt like the opening ceremony was over promised and under delivered. Other than USA & France boats, was all quite underwhelming. I went to the gym less than halfway into it, and by the time I got back, they'd still not lit the fckin cauldron. And Mrs SH had fallen asleep.

We managed to get home this afternoon. Original train cancelled so Uber across town and new ticket from Montparnasse to Poitiers. Took 2 hours instead of the usual 1h20 but better than other choices. | |
