Have we ever had a wider range of quality in the squad ? 10:43 - Dec 22 with 859 viewsLogman

Not quality in absolute terms, but range, from our best players to our worst.

I can never think of a time when there was such a big disparity.

75/76 - all good, obviously
82 - all good
Promotion under Warnock - all good
Premiership under Hughes - all pants
Relegation under Wilkins - all pants
Gigi de Canio/Gregory (all OK - apart from the odd blip - Zesh Reyman, Bob Malcolm)
Scowuongoman years - all good

The only time I can remember is when we went down under Gerry (and Ollie) when we had the likes of Crouchie and Gavin Peacock in the same team as Wardley, Christer Warren, Paul Bruce

Can anyone else remember a time when we had players so far off the mark like Santos, Madsen, Andersen, Ashby in a squad with such quality as in Nardi, Cook, Field, JCS, Varane, Kolli etc etc ?

There was some absolute tripe in that Warnock promotion squad along with the glitter of Taarabt.

You think so ? I seem to remember one (maybe two) dodgy loans but I thought the 18 or so man squad was all good.

I still think Ashby, Madsen, Anderson and maybe Santos will have important minutes this season, especially if actually played in preferred positions.

May I mention Rob Hulse?

Hulse was my first thought but then remembered Agyemang. Ismael Miller was bad but gave us one phenomenal moment.

Some guy called Giorgios Tofas played for half an hour that season. Don’t remember him.

Yes, almost always.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

When we went in that ludicrous spending spree I would imagine is the biggest range I imagine. Both in terms of class/ability, and attitude.

Don't see this squad as the widest range of quality within the squad.

Think they all have levels of talent, we just not seen it often enough as yet with some

The late 80s early 90s was best for me for strength in depth, although am sure the mid 70s was the top bananas but before my time.

Not sure as to widest range of quality and attitude though

Well I'll give you credit for finding a creative new way to slate some of our players needlessly, especially during a really positive run of results. This post might have made more sense when we were wondering where our next win was coming from.
