| Swansea City v Norwich City : Match day thread on 18:28 - Oct 25 by union_jack | Yes, we sat back after the first and were pretty clueless. I think we were better after the second and contained them reasonably well but I share your concern as to why we do this. It maybe lack of confidence and fear of losing what we’ve just gained? |
Confidence is everything in this game UJ.Just ask Vipotnik. Hopefully it’s the monkey off our back and we’ll kick on from here. Could do with not playing City midweek and just prepare for Charlton.

| Swansea City v Norwich City : Match day thread on 17:40 - Oct 25 by union_jack | I’m yet to be convinced by Sheehan to be honest. I like him as a person because he’s likeable but I see no coaching skills in him to be successful at this level. I want him to succeed but it’s going to take some much better performances than today to persuade me he’s the right man. |
We have the players it’s seems like we are playing with the handbrake on. I also like Sheehan but I’m not convinced by him this season. The likes of Preston, Hull, QPR & Charlton shouldn’t be above us.

| Swansea City v Norwich City : Match day thread on 18:23 - Oct 25 by johnlangy | I wouldn't call it creating havoc particularly but for the first twenty minutes or so we went at them with purpose. The result was a lovely goal from Zan and another effort which came back off the post straight into the keepers arms. Could easily have been two nil. And then we stopped and sat back. Why ? I don't understand. And we also sat back before and after his second. Again, why ? Even though we won and i'm very glad of the three points I wasn't impressed atall. |
We let them have too much space and time on the ball in the middle and let them run at us ,a better team would have hurt us, we can’t keep doing it in games ,it will end up costing us ,we have to start putting proper tackles in because we let opponents win the ball too easily

I’ll say this, if the team don’t start performing and looking like top 6 contenders there are going to be temptations coming both Galbraith and vip’s way this season. We need to be in a position whereas even if we don’t get to the POs this season, we look like getting there next with a few additions to be able to hold onto our better players.

We won yet I’m pretty angry Why? Because we are not starting our best players and then replacing them This is not a great watch Subbing VIP is the most spiteful thing I’ve seen at our club for 50 yrs Sheehan is that bad blinded by the light of his ego We have Samuel Smith on loan who is not being given a chance We will lose him come January Sheehan is mismanaging players IMO and it stinks Forget him and think of the players

Just said to a mate that I thought that we should have gone for the jugular, but we ended the game with a whimper, in my opinion of course.

There could be a number of reasons the manager subbed Vip today, somehow,I seem to think, being spiteful wasn’t one of them.

It does feel like a handbrake has been applied when the ball has to go back to the centre halves instead of moved forward. The most annoying part of today though was the lack of response to them going 442 at the end of the first half. This pushed us back and allowed them to pass through our midfield like it wasn't there. Luckily they abandoned that plan at half time.

No one wants/is instructed to run at defenders in the final third. It’s easy to shut down teams who can’t burst past a player and drag another out of position. Eom can do it when there’s a bit of space. Widdell looks the most likely when it’s compact. Sheehan has to allow them to gamble higher up the pitch though.

Was it my imagination or did he play in front of Galbraith like an 8 today? Suited us far better as we had a nippy sweeper protecting our back four and a stronger physical presence further forward.

He was definite further forward in the first half, broke up play brilliantly and the assist for the first goal was exceptional. Sheehan definitely put the brakes on second half.

Eom and Cullen can do no wrong in Sheehans eyes. It’s a blind spot that might cost Sheehan in the short term. Widdell looks stronger physically than the two of them and Inoussa has real vision and can see a killer pass. For all Sheehans talk of a high energy pressing and running all game I’d still prefer us to conserve our energy , allow the oppo to get into midfield then close them down hard, turn the ball over and get our forward players the ball quickly like every other team seems to be able to do against us. I’d rather us aggressive rather than passive.

Widell is full of it I refuse to believe his development is down to Sheehan Widdel is a future diamond EOM a nonentity , as is obvious EOM and Cullen and Key … there ya go

A good spot by the club as will be Inoussa, and Galbraith is. Sheehan isn’t playing his loan players that much, Yalcouyé, Benson, Samuels - Smith, Casey so can expect to see them on Weds v Man City (not Malick 🟥) I would expect Fisher to start too. As I’ve mentioned before the Swans are fortunate to be in the league cup otherwise Burnley and especially Chelsea would be looking at a recall in January if that’s possible.
