Football - lost its sparkle? 10:08 - Nov 26 with 5414 viewsGloucs_R

Maybe its my age but I am really bored of football these days.

From a ST holder and going to most games home and away in my 20's, I am now an apathetic middle aged man and cant be arsed any more.

When it comes to England, I couldnt tell you who most of them are and have zero interest at all.

QPR just feels a bit like Ground Hog day. This season I dont even get upset if we lose. I cant even be bothered to go and watch Gloucester City either.

I would rather watch other sports.

Anyone else gone through this? I feel like I need some Loft For Words therapy!

Poll: Are we staying up?

I have my moments, but I still feel incredibly excited about going to Loftus Rd, taking my seat (same one for 30 years or more) and watching us play - win lose or draw.

Also for me its not just the game - its pie and mash on Portobello before, Coffee at the Oporto on Golborne, the sheer awe of Trellick Tower, leisurely stroll on Portobello. It's engaging with my sons - less frequent visitors now as they have young children, walking up South Africa rd and standing outside the shops saying hello to faces old and new.

I took a new flame Saturday who has never been to a game before and she was absolutely smitten - sometimes I really think we take for granted this amazing atmosphere and community we have at Loftus Rd...

I understand the apathy that comes with the premier league, international football and the general cynicism that is now inherent in the game, but our little bit of west london pride and those butterflies in the stomach every game keep me going....

Love this. The area is so important to our identity and the match day experience.

Can you imagine a Reading fan writing something similar about a trip to the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
