Really? it was touted that we'd had the best window in years last summer.

This. Decent spend.

And huge positivity from the fans with a few celebs bringing in contacts, exposure and merch. Not the toxic nonsense I hear about, there was a feelgood factor.

Results not great, and so play off ambitions meant we sacked a guy for underperforming to that target. And replace with another who within 2 weeks is now in a relegation scrap.

How the narrative at football clubs is written by results but this stuff about poor players and poor owners is not what was being said by the majority of the fans Aug/Sept.

My main concern at the moment is we have a manager brought in to build a play off team with these ingredients but he is instead going to now be forced by fans to grind out results, that is probably not what got him the job ... if indeed he was first choice which is still not clear. And he doesn't have his people with him which does suggest a rush job. There is a bit of me thinking we might have got a point or two more under Sheehan over the last 3 games.

I know how down the fans are feeling but at the end today as the players came over to the fans there were some ugly exchanges , hand gestures , swearing . The players looked shocked and I don't think it is going to achieve anything. Morale must be through the floor and shameful scenes like that won't pick the players up.

"there were some ugly exchanges , hand gestures , swearing . The players looked shocked and I don't think it is going to achieve anything."

in part I agree with you, but players looking shocked after that last hour or so? it also didnt do any harm to the Albion players who took some of the same going off at half time, perhaps they should sit back and take stock of whats happening,

I’m sorry but I couldn’t disagree more.

Sheehan wasn’t sacked because we weren’t pushing for the POs. He was sacked because we weren’t pushing playing very poorly, looking like a relegation team and heading for the bottom 3.

Matos has come in and is going to do well to redress the situation. He's not going to solve it overnight if in fact at all ab=nd we would have lost the last two with Sheehan in charge without any doubt.

I do tend to agree that a manager like Matos is possibly not the best for a relegation scrap but we don’t seem to go for that style of manager anyway. Time will tell.

I did say yesterday the perceived lack of effort will come back to haunt them. It was a bit of a rant but I know a lot who travel, good mates who will always stand alongside me, they tell me the same. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were some of those shouting today.

These are worrying times. The players have to understand they are a part of it, all the good and the bad bits. Won’t be as much shit as I get on Twitter 😂 But at least these people can be seen and heard.

OK, so we might have differing views of why the manager was pushed.

But both seem to be based on the same premise that we have a good squad? (I'm not necessarily of that opinion, but I'm simply reflecting the reasoning of the broader fanbase from Summer up to the point of sacking Sheehan)

As otherwise why bring in someone who may be more ready for a project than a motivational speech?

Him and the head of recruitment. Yalcouye and Benson not even on the bench, Widell and Inoussa are feeble, Idah is just a poor signing and we should have done better. Montague was removed for not agreeing with Gorringe and Worth was the wrong person removed. This data dependant recruitment is just ridiculous or the ones implementing it are just not good enough. Is this squad really better than last season.

Not that long ago people were praising Montague for the transfer window we had.

The basic reality seems to be that nobody has the first idea who is responsible for what so they'd probably embarass themselves less if they refrained from confidently apportioning blame for anything.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Panic stations on here by the looks of it then lads?

We will be ok seriously we have a window in 4 weeks Matos will have players ready to come.
I don’t think play offs is possible to be totally honest.
But we will strengthen and stay up min when this team clicks it will be awesome.
Throwing away a two goal lead is hard but come on at least it wasn’t another drubbing.

Let’s just all take a breath at least we are scoring again.

Also Ben Cabango needs to hand over the arm band we need a leader atm Ben is a fantastic player but captain not for me.

Stammy or Cam Burgess !

prey, who will be picking the new players in the window?

it was a drubbing and like the alamo in the second half.

Captain?

Again with you, I appreciate the optimism but you can’t honestly believe that do you?

What players is a bottom 3-5 or worse team going to attract? And even if we do, are they going to be Championship type players or flatter-to-deceive continental players who turn out to be powderpuff?

Scoring again, well we scored two yesterday then got destroyed. The score line flattered us.

Words are easy Rhondda but belief can only be formed on what we can see and that’s 5 defeats in a row, out of the relegation zone on GD and a team who have little to no pace, strength or guile.

Matos may be a great manager but does he have the tools to work with? And does his style suit this league?

New players coming in……. do you think the club has money to splash out on new players? It’s spent a packet over the summer. Unless they can do some real wheeling a dealing I think it’s mainly this squad until next May.

The first 10 minutes we were brilliant.

We had little glimpses after in the first half but what really got to me was the lack of urgency after the 2nd goal.

There were times after a set piece when wba had alot of ayers in our bix when one or both wingers or even vip didnt make an effort to get upfield to put their remaining defenders under pressure, it slowly got worse and we all know what happened in second half.

We should have kept up the pressure that got us the 2 early goals, if we had scored a 3rd it would have finished them off.

I feel for matos, I just hope hes got the mettle for a fight and more importantly importantly the players have but atm I dont think they have.

We just have to not lose both upcoming games.

Vipi was anonymous after our goals but he was not alone in that regard. To lose a 2 goal lead after such a cracking opening 20 minutes was a punch to the guts.
We need the next two games to go our way and just hope an uninterrupted week of training and kicking arses is going to unite this team and ignite some determination.

presumably the next target of blame will be the board if they don't spend big again in the next window, and in essence, admit that everything they did over the Summer was wrong, and they have bought a new manager to start from scratch.

I mean, there is a fans eye hope, and then there is the real world ...
