From memory someone posted he was on £15k a week. Is my memory playing tricks with me ?

I think that is a little high with £10-12K being a ball park figure. Often when we negotiate a contract extension we factor in the cost to purchase a replacement plus salary over the term of the contract. That was probably the situation with Fulton. We are operating with a different mindset now but looking at some of the players we have bought and ditched at a loss since was it really such a bad deal.
| Fulton on 06:40 - Jan 23 with 1337 views | Dr_Winston | He's someone coaches know that they can depend on. Whether that's doing the physical battling that Sheehan used him for, to meld with Grimes as some sort of hive mind as others did, or as Matos is demonstrating, he can push forward a bit too. Just a good pro. Not a whiff of scandal off the pitch, willing to be a bench player if needs be, clearly held in high regard by the other players and staff at the club. Wouldn't be remotely surprised if he goes on to have a good coaching career when he hangs up his boots, which hopefully will be a while yet. I can certainly see him slipping into the "senior pro on a reduced wage adding cover to the squad" role that Naughton used to fill. Actually, thinking about it, he's a very similar character to Kyle IMO. Both good pros and apparently good people. Both hugely respected figures within the club. Both played more than 300 games for us despite being continually criticised by some of our less cerebral fellow posters. [Post edited 23 Jan 7:03]

I'd read £17K. Your memory is fine!
| Fulton on 09:08 - Jan 23 with 1214 views | KeithHaynes | Info we had going way back when Steve Cooper pushed for his signing in the January of that season was 15k. Jay has earned a good few million at Swansea. A quiet man away from the pitch with a family that he has kept well out of the spotlight, unlike Grimes. Has numerous investments in Swansea and enjoys the lifestyle his salary has given him. He will get a new contract at some point before this one ends this year but it will be in the region of what Joe and Kyle got, not big bucks. He can expect at least a seventy five percent reduction imo. | |

| Fulton on 10:03 - Jan 23 with 1144 views | Dr_Winston | I'd expect him to be smart enough to understand that his next contract will be nowhere near what he's on now. The question for him then becomes what to do if he's offered more elsewhere than we do. Take a lesser deal and stay put. Take a bigger deal and relocate himself whilst leaving his family here, or uproot completely. Guess it depends just as much on the length of any deal.offered. | |

Not everyone favourite for sure but considering how long many managers we've had since he signed for us I find it remarkable that he's managed to be a part of their plans ,as others have posted , not a whiff of scandal ,just head down and when he's called upon never lets himself or the team down.

He is just the model professional and carries out the instructions his manager/managers demand. Sometimes he has been criticised for the way he plays but how much of that has been down to management decisions.

His biggest problem for years was that him and Grimes just weren’t compatible. Neither players fault, their playing styles just didn’t suit each other, but played together for a long time due to lack of options. Grimes looked better when Fulton didn’t play and Fulton looks better now Grimes has left. He’s been one of our best players the last few games.

Not helped by the sheer volume of people who didn't understand something this obvious and laid the blame entirely on him.

Tbf we didnt have anyone else of a decent standard in midfield for a while, thats why he played alot. Ateotd fulton is a true professional, hes strong, fit and who will give his all in every game but he is limited and has been for a while, hes been kept on for these reasons. Atm we need him, like we have done for the last 2/3 years as the personnel on the playing front have changed dramatically.

Spot on that FB, his form seems to have improved since Matos's arrival, although he had his moments under Sheehan, long may it continue, every club needs a horses for course's player.

That’s what I’m saying. They weren’t at all compatible but both played due to lack of competition and it didn’t do either of them any favours. On the occasions Allen was fit, they both looked better. Last couple of games, particularly Birmingham with Franco and Widdell a bit further up allowing Fulton to play to his strengths, he’s looked really good. At the start of the season, I thought he’d be slowly phased out, but he more than merits his place at the moment.

Fulton is quietly going about his business. He will potentially be here for two more seasons after this imo.

Always has been the best "reader" of the game in our squad post Premier League. Watch him a bit more closely and how he has evaluated his position and mentally moved the ball on before even receiving it. A footballer's footballer in the true sense. Two more years would be great.
| Fulton on 15:47 - Jan 24 with 349 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | He’s always been good. He has struggled playing roles that aren’t suited to him and for a long time he was alongside a player who wanted to do exactly the same as him. Still think we look better with Marco in there though. | |

| Fulton on 16:21 - Jan 24 with 313 views | ReslovenSwan1 | If Fulton is in the team the club is not making progress. He will help Swansea stay out of trouble but not help Swansea to the top of the table. Some might argue he is slow and clumsy. The model for Swansea s is sharp nimble players that bring tempo. This was defined by Leon Britton. Football joy occured when he was paired with De Guzman and Hernandez. Even today Swansea has spent millions at and are in exactly the same place. Lower half of the Championship. Coopers excellent loans got Swansea to top 8. Since then mid table treading water. This is where Fulton is. If he is still in the side recruitment people gave done a bad job. Fulton is a good footballer and team player but does not fit the Swansea template defined by Martinez Brendan and Laudrup. Too slow of thought an action. [Post edited 24 Jan 16:24]
