What a mighty great band they were.

Out of all that Britpop nonsense, they are still great. They had a sense of humour, every album was good and the singles were brilliant.

Only recently bought a best of from them. Really enjoying it and will seek out the proper albums. They and a lot of other bands of that time totally passed me by.

I’m still convinced Run Christian run is probably one of the best tunes every written .

I have it in my head that Steven Spielberg saw the video for “Have a fag - put it out” What’s that song called? We’re alright ? Anyway Speilberg saw it early doors, got in touch with them and said come to the States and I will give your own TV show and make you the next Monkees. And they said, “Nah your’re alright mate” Classy if true.

Wasn’t massively into Brit Pop but I remember hearing ‘Caught by the Fuzz’ and thinking that band’s got something.

I think that was mooted at the time, but didn’t realise Spielberg was involved.

Madness were offered the opportunity to be the new Monkees in the 80’s based on their videos and tunes. Again, never happened.

Thing with BritPop, for me, is most of the big hitters, Oasis, Blur, Supergrass, etc. were basically Singles bands. Their GH albums are brilliant. My exception would be Pulp, who made great albums including another last year.

Regards Radiohead. Again, for me, possibly the most overrated band of all time. Tin hat strapped on…..maybe that deserves a new thread ?

Liam, Chambers, Gregory, Moulding, and Partridge, {QPR XTC's middle names by deed poll} is correct, they're good.
Not so much a guilty pleasure, like for me, the B-52's, but a 90's/00's ELO, tight, uplifting, rocky, catchy and moreover fun.
Gaz Coombes is a seriously underrated and talented front man, in a way comparable to the brilliant James Dean Bradfield from the Manics.
Unfortunately, 'Alright' queered my pitch with them for a few years until i saw them live a few times, supporting and then headlining and realised they were. { They aren't keen on the song either.}
What's not to like about 'Caught by the fuzz' containing the lyric......
'Here comes my mum........'
