Just back from a depressing lunchtime crawl.
Three of the pubs, I was the only punter. The other three just a couple.
When I worked in Hammersmith there were some pubs you could barely get the doors open, they were so full.
Even in the main part of the Broadway there are pubs that don't open at all lunchtime - Stonemasons, Andover, Dartmouth, I think, and the pub in the Broadway centre.
I'm sure it used to be that if pubs didn't open for licencing hours, they would lose their licence.
That situation obviously doesn't obtain now.
