Serie A advice /Milan 19:29 - Oct 26 with 825 viewspaulparker

Evening all

Going to Milan in 2 weeks to watch Inter vs Como & Torino vs Leece , always been an ambition of mine to do the whole Europe thing (seeing as we won’t be doing it )
Has anyone done these grounds or done the whole Italian football thing
Need advice where to go , where not to go and where to drink etc

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Went to an inter game a few years ago. Loads of food trucks outside the ground selling excellent sandwiches and beer. Cheap and a fun atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend. Not much in terms of food inside the ground although I seem to remember you can buy beer.

Milan the second most expensive place I’ve ever visited

Don’t buy a coffee around Il Duomo square!

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

I’ve been to San Siro for a Serie A game, but was a little disappointed. Stadium was far from full and lack atmosphere. But seeing as they are going to build a new stadium, probably a must do then. If they draw a good crowd for that game, it should be good.

Atalanta is only and hour by train away and Bergamo is a fantastic city to visit.

Monza even closer, but I haven’t been there yet.

The area around the stadium isn’t great. Maybe try the Navigli (canals) area for drinks. It’s usually pretty lively and there’s a lot of choices within walking distance. If you arrive early evening, the first aperitivo drink will be more expensive but you usually get enough food included that you may not need dinner later and you’ll have saved some cash for a decent cocktail in Bar Rita or the Doping Club.

Both are close to decent places to eat for all budgets and there are lots of options for regional food at good prices.

Como is fairly close, so you should see a decent attendance.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Also worth noting that you normally need to order cabs in advance in most places, unless it’s a station or registered stop. Uber is useful for that or find someone in a hotel or restaurant that will book for you.

Transport from the airports is fairly easy but watch out for the ‘private taxi’ touts at Linate. Just go direct to the cab rank. Malpensa has a train and bus service which are much cheaper than a taxi. It’s not quite a Ryanair distance but far enough to cost more than your flight sometimes !

I have been a few times. Nosebleed seats. It's an impressive building. Not a great area round the stadium and i remember it's a long walk from the metro. Plenty of hotels, bars/restaurants around Centrale station.

Navigli is more atmospheric for bars, but also not close-by.
