I was born in the sandy lane 21:19 - Oct 18 with 13512 views | Swissdale | My dad used to sing this song (to the tune of wandering star by Lee Marvin) to me as a young lad, apparently they used to sing it at Spotland. Can anyone remember it? I've never heard it sang at the ground and have been going for 20 years!
I was born in the sandy lane on 21:21 - Oct 18 with 13502 views | SalwaDale | Yes, remember it well. Usually followed by "We all live in the Sandy Lane End" to the tune of Yellow Submarine.

"You`ll never take the Sandy" was a staple and "we are evil " sang in a sinister way. "Its time for you to run" and "you`ll never reach the station" followed by "you`re going home in a Rochdale ambulance" The songs all had the same theme and concentrated on kicking the S*** out of the opposing fans. Being a football fan in those days was a dangerous hobby !!

"you'll never take the Sandy" just before mass exodus as Halifax/Huddersfield/Barnsley/Bradford fans ran at us.
I was born in the sandy lane on 10:26 - Oct 19 with 13087 views | AtThePeake | I'd love it if we had a unique chant these days, like Cheaty's "Wheelbarrow" song. I dislike having the same boring chants that everyone else does. Let's bring back one of the old ones (although preferably not one about stabbing someone)

Plenty of those songs were sung before Moggy ever graced the hallowed terraces of Spotland. Previous 'cheer leaders' before Moggy included Barry Haslam and a rather Vinny Loftus. When people were ejected by the local Constabulary for fighting, there was always the favourite (but sick) song about the cop kiIller Harry Roberts (who murdered 3 policemen in Shepherds Bush in the mid 1960's) and a few songs aimed at the cops about who was 'seeing to his wife'whilst he was 'plodding his beat'. Most other songs were pop songs of the day with different lyrics !! All very tame stuff compared to some of the stuff churned out today.

Probably from the frequency of them getting 'nicked'. Often heard was the phrase, "You're coming with me Sunshine" as they disappeared arse first over the low wall behind the goals. Oh we had such fun............
