I was an occasional visitor to Scotland as a young man. With a passing interest in football I would attend a fixture if it was local to where I was or if someone invited me along. Having attended many a big game and most of the major local derbies in England I can say with unreserved assurance that nothing beats the atmosphere when Celtic or Rangers fans get into gear.

I’ve had some great times following the R’s, but the only match I’ve ever heard QPR make ‘total emotional noise’ was at Loftus Rd for the Oldham semi, a truly moving experience, one which I would be so, so grateful if we could ever repeat.

It has to be something which is not only inspiring, but easy.
Have you ever noticed that the WHU fans can't hit the notes in 'Bubbles' and nor can the Liverpool fans manage all of YNWA (it's the PA system that gets them through that one).
Keep it simple.

These all qualify by those criteria but are entirely awful.

Only the newly created franchises like the West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers manage to escape that dreadful, tired 'trad jazz' arrangement.

We did one year: Daydream Believer. Classic cheesy anthem. Adopted almost by accident and then belted out in adversity, it was about the only good thing that happened that season.

Then a couple of other clubs started singing it and for some reason we decided we weren't going to sing it any more. I never got that.
