Agreed, great band. Mark Hollis had really good views on the creative process, he was a great artist.
I bought Laughing Stock during the first lockdown and use to go on long runs with it in my ears. I found it was the perfect time to listen to his/their music. It made such a change from the instant grtidaction you get from most music, to actually have to listen and be patient as the music develops is buetiful.
I never realised Mark Hollis lived in Wimbledon, which is were I grey up, I wonder if he went to any of the pubs around there? Probably not that sort of fella?
I have no idea how I missed this in 1984 as I've always like Talk Talk, but it is my tune of 2020.
I liked Talk Talk, had their albums, but was never a huge fan boy, Dum Dum Girl however is a sheer work of genius that still puts a shiver down my spine every time I hear it.
