Winning Mentality?? 17:48 - Jan 7 with 1185 viewsJules4367

We are all armchair managers (and some may even manage a young team) and we can all see that what is happening is poor.

Well done Fleetwood- no surprise - but do you think the players really care?

4 shots in the first half and none in the second - that is the equivalent of us not doing our job! If some of you were as slovenly as when we play like this in YOUR jobs you would be reprimanded and could even have pay docked....but not our stars!

If they care and they know that they've played poorly- donate a fifth of their salary this week to charity and do so until they develop a winning mentality! Then we would see who is actually committed to R's and who is not!

We can all see when we are playing like a poor park side - but no one does anything!

Against Sheff Utd- all could see that the legs of some of the players had gone and all we needed was fresh legs- just imagine that instead of Dickie and Dunne booting it away we had fresh legs to run onto the ball and challenge - we'd have won!

So if we can all see this why cannot the guys in charge of and on the bench?

We cannot develop a winning mentality if we don't win and we cannot win if we don't substitute well or have someone up front with Lyndon to pick up his headers.

So yes, we all think we know best but some of the basics are missing and its as if no one can see it!

I'll sit back for you to criticise me and my post but even against Sheff Utd, we could see them piling on the pressure at the end and the equaliser was no surprise and if it is no surprise then there IS something wrong and a rant like this may one day help - if only to make the players culpable for upsetting those of us who ARE loyal and watch then take money under false pretences !!

Perfectly reasonable and thoughtful assessment Jules.Changing the mentality of QPR on and off the pitch...is a massive undertaking.

I've written about the mentality issue at this club on several other threads recently. There isn't one and we haven't had one for years. It's the biggest problem at this club. There doesn't appear to be an awareness of the club's history, what it stands for, what it has achieved over the years and what it need to be going forward.

The only person at the club who I think truly understands what a winning or better mentality means is Andy Sinton.

Never knowingly right.
Poll: How long before new signings become quivering wrecks of the players they were?

Caveated by the fact I only saw it on a hooky stream but...

I don't know if it's mentality or something else but they sure didn't look like they cared whether they won or not. Looked like a pre-season kickabout. Wandering around, not getting stuck in, just booting the ball (inaccurately) into Dykes head with no-one around to feed off him if he did win the ball.

I think a few of them need to be considering whether playing football full-time was the right career choice. Hard to see where the next win comes from.

We can only hope that the club is more concerned than the players seem to be. If not...you could be right about our next win.

Time to call it a day with Les and the backroom staff that Ramsey looks after. Time for someone with some intellectual capacity and club knowledge to be appointed. Step forward Andy Sinton supported by Simon Barker.

Agreed. We seem to be a rest home for other clubs mentally fragile rejects to dump on us. As soon as it gets tough they melt and then the better players like Chair and Willock lose their way dragged down in a collective loss of self belief.

The way we played in the second half was like someone reminded them at the interval we can't afford paying for police and using expensive electricity to light the stadium in a replay so don't draw. When we fell behind it felt like they were accepting defeat such was the lack of intensity to save the game and get a replay.
