Other Sporting Endeavours 11:50 - Apr 28 with 1560 views | PlanetHonneywood | I am sure among our congregation, many have other sporting interests that bring pain and joy in equal measure to those served up by the Rangers. Since relocating to France, myself, Mrs. PH and the other QPR fan here have become season ticket holders at our local rugby team, who play in ProD2. Tonight we have our penultimate game of the season against Montauban the significance being: we are in the last relegation spot four points behind...Montauban. Lose, and its relegation to the third tier, and a somewhat uncertain future entails. It's a shame, as last season 'we' made the POs after a fantastic win against the other team chasing the last spot, itself after having a player harshly sent off and playing the 70 minutes with 14 players! The rigours of making the POs were draining and in the first knock-out game, a penalty kick hit the upright, which would have given us the lead with a few minutes to go. Alas, in throwing everything at it, we eventually conceded a try and were out at the first hurdle. Come this season, our better players were picked off and finances had to be tightened: sound familiar? Consequently, we have struggled all season and rarely been out of the relegation places. Mrs. PH and I have managed to get tickets for the away game tonight. Only 200 tickets were set aside for the away team, and while it is not as threatening as Stoke away, the sense of doom hangs ever over the town and apparently, we've struggled to sell our allocation - which is poor! So it's a real weekend of staring down the barrel of relegation, and the resulting consequences of how will both my teams fare in the third tier. Thank fcuk QPR won on Saturday! When I picked our tickets up for tonight's match at the start of the week, I was trying to convey to the despondent woman - who is probably going to lose her job in the box office, which will close down if relegated - how a dispirited and equally desperate QPR could nonetheless rise like a phoenix at Turf Moor to give us hope. She smiled as much to say 'WTF is this idiot going on about' while her deamenour conveyed the sense 'we're gone!' Stout hearts my Rfosi comrades. Allez les Hoops et les Jaunes.

My old man used take me up to see London Welsh rugby club in 70s and 80s. Been along to grand prix, Wentworth golf, local basketball and ice hockey teams. I regret not getting anything for Olympics and surprising being a runner in the past never seen an athletics event. Most random thing ever saw was the World Speed Skating tournament in of all places Guildford quite obviously. Did rugby sevens and England games at Twickenham and seen England football team on just two occasions.. But like most of us Numpties on here been by far the highest numbers to our dear supa hoopsa !!!!!

A couple of years later they got good and got to a Superbowl. It's all good fun. Plus I love me a bit of Cincinnati chilli. Also, a big fan of UFC.

A bonus losing point last week means: we have to win tonight, get a bonus point and hope that those inbreds, Angouleme, not only lose, but don't get a bonus losing point. I've seen one of my teams survive...
