I can't see this posted on here but BBC say Giles Phillips has moved to Wycombe on a free.

We released him a couple of months ago I think

Good for him. He was only a back-up for Wycombe last year (Wiki says 11 appearances, not sure how many of them were starts) and he was out of contract here. I suppose he thought he'd get more opportunities there.

I suppose his path here was blocked by Gubbins and Masterson.

It seems that Ainsworth sees something we don't , anyway I wish the lad well.

Maybe a different style of CB, Mel?

1 year deal and going into their new B team. Can get some opinions here but the basics is 'not ready yet but a good low-risk free transfer'

My highlight of Wycombe's Play-Off Final victory was the whole squad celebrating in a heap for photographers while our Giles was coolly chatting and listening to two beautiful suited women.

Maybe Brian, I was hoping that he could break through into the first team but he didn't get many chances. 6 foot 3 a good size for a CH. As always time will tell.

Too true.

I think Smeg and other U-23 regulars on here will be able to guide us.

I would think that at 23 his age was against him for us.

i kind of followed his season at wycombe.... he basically fell out of the squad after getting sent off very early in a match... in one of the subsequent matches, he was subbed off after 25 mins or so and never made another appearance

im assuming wycombe is signing him as a punt on the basis of his talent/athleticism, but arent going to rely on him much this season...

Would think Wycombe signed him because he was free, cheap wages and willing to sit on the bench.

If they are starting a B team, they need players of a reasonable standard, physicality and experience who can make up the numbers and enable others to develop without getting hammered every game.

Little point trying to develop a couple of 20/21/22 yr olds in a team made up with u18s who are going to lose every game 5-0.

We can get all sentimental but, given his career at QPR and looking at what he did for Wycombe, he 's probably not good enough for the Championship.
On a similar note this has to be make or break year for Hammelainen.

But, what do I know, I didn't see Kakay as a Championship level player.

Hamalainen's going to be interesting. A solid year on loan last year and seemed a hit with the Kilmarnock fans from what I could see. A few on here reckoned he needed to toughen up a bit and nearly 30 games in the SPL last year can't have hurt. He must have something about him for the club to hold on for this long.
