Goal threat zero and chances of clean sheet zero also !!!!! 17:15 - Dec 12 with 1236 viewsnumptydumpty

Apart from Ilias, we don't seem to have any serious goal threat and we always seem to concede at least one goal.

Pretty patterns sometimes but zero ideas of how to break down teams in the final third

And zero options on the bench to change things ie problem being we are playing our best eleven

Sadly currently Warburton is a one trick pony and the pony doesn't know what direction its meant to go to either

I think there are at least five or six teams worse than us in the championship though which isn't because we have too much about us - its just the championship this season I feel is quite poor. So I personally can't see this as a relegation team.

The problem with QPR is - I just cannot see how we will score goals. Both Dykes and Bonne seem pretty off track and the crosses that are coming in are hit without thought or purpose.

Tom Carroll loooked good, Chair has his moments and Dickie I feel is fair. Dieng is lot better than our previous incumbents and Willock is decent but is always taken off after 55 minutes.

The rest of the team and bench I dont wish to comment - a team that thinks its not good enough and a manager who currently does not have any impact in game management

Not sure what else to say ...

Whilst I don't really want Warburton to be sacked, it's probably heading that way. I don't share your belief that five or six other teams will save us. Having no goal threat and a tendency to concede is a pretty fatal combination, and fifty two points looks along way off. I hope he can turn it round, but I fear he won't be able to, or even given the chance to

18 games gone, 28 remain.

On 18 points meaning on current form we'd finish with 46 if we repeat this exactly.

Forest, County and Wednesday for me will climb out of their current situations and end up at least mid table.

Stoke looks daunting on Tuesday, so expect nothing from that, meaning Wycombe next weekend is the proverbial 6 pointer for me.

So by end of Wycombe game we could be just above the bottom 3.

If we do lose those 2 I'd say its by by Warburton and his team.

No game in this league scares me, we could easily get something from stoke. Agreed that Warburton is in trouble if we don't win one of the next two though.

What puzzles me is that if you look at the creative players we have today, how did we create so few chances? Between Chair, Willock, Carroll and BOS, that's a lot of creativity yet really very few chances today. It seems like players aren't on the same wavelength and there's not enough movement, too much of players trying to do it all themselves

Agree with the OP, it’s not just this season but for as long as I can remember the crosses we put in are hardly ever directed at a player or area, if and when they clear the first man it’s normally straight at the keeper or defender, same as our headed clearances 99% of the time they fall to an opposition player, this has been happening before Warbs, it happened with Ollie, Schteve, JFH too.

Don’t even get me started on our kick off and throw in routines.

I’m not in the Warbs out camp, I just want us to be coached into doing the very basics right.

Willock was very very poor today, lacked strength, desire and I question whether he has the bottle for a season in the Championship.

I hope I'm wrong.

I will tell you what happened today, reading turned up and didn’t even bother trying to attack or score against us. They where set up with 10 men behind the ball for most of the game with a small baldock as lone striker not getting a sniff of anything .
I thought it a bit weird how negative and happy with the point they appeared to come for , maybe because their best 2 players were out injured ?
There was no space when we went forward and 6 players in front of our midfield all the time while doubling up when we tried to come down the sides.

Then they scored and it clicked that they knew if they waited long enough, they would get a chance without even trying for it and so it was written , us not knowing how to win a game and very good at self capitulation

Watch wycombe play the exact same tactics in a few weeks and probably get the same result

We have a team of, generally, League 1 standard players.

This team has promise, if it can be kept together for a couple of seasons. There will be constant gradual improvement.

Trouble is our League 1 team is in the Championship, which is hindering our improvement.

I've posted before that I believed it would take 10 years to recover from Mark Hughes' disasterous short period as our manager and then the Harry Rednapp era. We have another 5 years to go!

So I am fully expecting results like we have had this season for the next few years. And it wouldnt surprise me if we dipped down a division for a season either.

I'm not sure who would do a better job that Warbs - with the restrictions we have - and we must be very careful of what we wish for (Rednapp after Hughes for example).

If we went down this year then I would be tempted to give Warbs a 1 year rolling contract and I would keep much of the team together too. Why? Well because this team will get better - given time .

Trouble is, I suspect that if the next 2 results go badly the Board might press the EJECT button.

Bottom line. We are 4 or 5 years away from being a good top half Championship side. Until then "our" team is going to annoy/frustate us with their performances plenty of times. There is no quick fix to our clubs problems . Hughes and Rednapp eviscerated this club. Only a lot more time and (our) patience will get us back where we should be and thats winning matches more than losing them.
