| Back Three 22:19 - Feb 5 with 1978 views | davman | Some say it's a nice problem to have, but today showed the problem. We really, really missed Barbet and his left foot on that side of the three. Who would you play? For me, Barbet > Dunne > Dickie or Sanderson. | |

| Back Three on 23:20 - Feb 5 with 1705 views | ozranger | The real problem today was the shuffling of our defenders. Why move all three players. Dunne should have stayed middle and Sanderson left with Dickie right. They are so used to their positions that moving them around only made sense if the gaffer was trialling the idea. If so I don't think it worked. | | | |
| Back Three on 07:37 - Feb 6 with 1440 views | superhoopdownunder | Even though I was rather annoyed last night / this morning Upon reflection I feel a little better now as surely after this non performance Warburton should know his best team. Good that Blackburn lost too Bring Dieng, Barbet and Willock back for Boro Bringing in loans from Premier League is risky as if they are expecting to be played can upset the team especially as we have been getting excellent results I would not be starting Sanderson or Hendrick. | | | |
| Back Three on 07:38 - Feb 6 with 1437 views | swisscottage | I can see what Warburton was doing today. Dunne can play middle and cover right and left of the three .. but without a left foot. Barbet can play left of the three and cover left back ( although not great) Sanderson can play right of three and cover left of the three and right wing back and has pace. Dickie has only played right of the three with us. Kakay can cover right of the three or right wing back... but I get the feeling he's dropped off Warburton's list as cover for right of the three with the signing of Sanderson With De Weis gone out on loan we have no cover in the middle of the three with match experience in that position. My feeling is Warburton wanted to try players in their cover positions yesterday in a competitive match that whilst important wasn't as important as the league. Whilst it wasn't a great success .. hit on the break several times ( with defenders sucked to far forward leaving space in behind) like we were earlier in the season when we were bedding in Dunne .. it does give the players something to learn and build on as its almost certain with the condensed fixture list that we're going to have to shift things around from time to time. ... and being honest, my rather Frank view is that if we have to drop someone for Sanderson, it HAS to be Dickie. Controversial maybe, but I think Dickie is the most replaceable out of that back three. Thoughts? | |

I doubt we're going to drop anyone for Sanderson.

Agreed. Sanderson isn’t our player, the other three are. Even if we get promoted I doubt Wolves would let him go. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Spot on. Hard as it was for the 4000 brave souls yesterday it was really about shuffling the pack with regard to the rest of the season. Hopefully lots of fun for the next few weeks and one Wembley day is more than enough..and very realistic. Remember Sunderland a couple of years back!
