Still QPR and still hopeful but the lack of any defence tonight sickens me 22:43 - Mar 14 with 2299 views | Jules4367 | We played well Saturday and undid all the good feeling and confidence tonight, but such is the Rangers Rollercoaster! One question..... Is there anyone in our B squad that could replace Dickie for, say, the next 10 games?

Whats most Bizzare is Ainsworth saying he did not want to throw Gubbins into the fire by starting him in the Championship . Now he has started Drewe 3 games in a row who must be crushed by his display tonight or the way he was thrown to the wolves . Blackpool might be shit but the recognized from the kick off they could exploit him and they did . Start Gubbins at home Saturday the crowd will help him out we have to drop Dickie

Only way you find out if anybody is any good...is to try them. At least then you will see the depth of the problems at this club. The previous three managers knew it...and GA will know after tonight.

Dickie seems undropable. Is he the manager’s son in law or boyfriend or sonething? Got to try somebody different on Saturday surely?

the bit where Dickie folded in the penalty area and shanked the ball out for pool corner was just weird... like he had been shot by a sniper? I think the excuse I've heard more than any other about last night performance is fatigue following Saturdays exertions (poor loves). But surely marking oppo players at set pieces doesn’t require a huge amount of running around?... I suppose it does require a level of concentration tho. [Post edited 15 Mar 2023 8:28]

I believe the real problem with the defence is the lack of numbers. At present, and GA has stated this himself, most of the team "picks itself" and that is especially the case for the defence as there are really, bar Gubbins, no one else. So, Dickie really is an auto-pick each match and my guess is that he knows that. That is he's not undroppable, but not replaceable with the stocks we currently have available. The question, though, is if Gubbins is on the bench then he is obviously fit enough to play and so why not play him? I think we may see something happen in Saturday. On a related note, I have read that Jackett and Harris are very keep on Masterton staying with the Gills after this season. It appears that his contract with QPR will be finished at the end of this season and thus a free agent. He has been superb with them and has a good partnership with Max Ehmer. So, if that is correct and if GA can't pry him away from the Kent club, we will be looking for quite a few new defenders come this summer.

I think his point is thst he didn't want two novices in the Back 5 - Gubbins and Drewe. Fair point imo.

Someone with a bit of experience who hasn't been in this terrible run to pull things round is just what we need right now. I can see why he doesn't want to throw a young player into this shitshow. It's different putting a forward in to a defender. Remember what happened to Furlong after the stick he got in that Palace game. Ainsworth is an experienced manager, I trust him to know how to manage young players.
