Shin pads 14:55 - Nov 8 with 846 viewsMedwayR

Might as well give up on having rules around wearing shin pads, just watched the Stockport sub GK putting on what looked like stick-on plasters for shin pads.

Something like this:

Poll: Who’s better?

I saw that too. Wasn’t sure if they were some sort of adhesive that he then stuck conventional shin pads on top of though. Could be wrong.

I did notice that his pink socks weren’t actually socks, more like a sort of ‘tube’ that he seemed to roll down from his knee. At least they didn’t have holes in the back though.

Grealish cost City over 100 million yet wear kids shin pads, I’m surprised the player insurers don’t have a bigger say in this.

Poll: Who’s starting between the sticks v Preston?

Great point.

Also, the coaches and the clubs.

We're paying you serious money, your teammates rely on you, a shinpad never made anyone play worse.
Put proper ones on, and grow up.

If I was a defender I'd see those as an invitation to kick their shins as hard as I could.

Wait till someone breaks their leg for not wearing shins.
Idiots.

They should wear them in training as well (many don't).
When you train, you train for the big match; if you have to do it in the match, you should do it in training.

No more special training kits; wear the shirt. No more without shinies or wearing bobble hats. Train for the match as what you would do and wear in the match.
That's what you're training for, not RuPaul's Drag Race.

If it's just to get fitness, then okay fair enough. But when that's done (even for QPR players that ends), back to matchday kit and reality. No more wuss excuses, woman up!

The grizzled ex-semi pro who used to prop up the 5th XI Old Boys side I played in at the tail end of the 70’s used to put folded up newspapers down the front of his socks. Another one used to wear his wife’s laddered stockings on cold days, but that’s another story.

Seems our own Dave Thomas was something of a trailblazer!
